hey everyone

I have a question and i know i'll get shot for this but i bought a performance module with the basic Black "ground" and Red "hot" wires. It says to connect it to my IAT which from what i can tell a combo sensor with the MAP sensor. The company suggests if that is the case then locate the ECT sensor and connect there. My question Has any one installed a Performance Module on an Elantra 2001-03 if so which sensor did you attach to? Why? and do you have photo's? ...oh and will you come and do it for me? Kidding sorry for all the questions. I would appreciate any help

The Ect has 3 wires Black, Grey, Black W/green stripe any ideas

Thx A.

Unfortunately there really isn't any "performance modules" for our cars. Did you get this off eBay? If so, please search this site for "ebay chip" and see what you come up with.

you should've donated the money to EXD instead, at least you wouldn't have thrown it away for nothing!!!

Best advice ever : take that "performance chip" *refrain from laughing* and put it under one of your front tires, the added grip from a start will actually be the only way it can help you with performance!!!

Sad, but true. Those chips are nothing more than a resistor that usually harms the performance more than it helps. Sorry you had to learn the hard way.

At least this website is chock full 'o good information to get the ball rolling in the right direction.

Welcome to EXD!

those so called performance chips from ebay are a scam. Learn from Experience right? you could probably use it as a decoration on your rear view mirror though.
here is some helpful DIY mods that you might find interesting to research and spend your money there instead. http://www.elantraxd.com/DIY/index.html

want performance?, start with a CAI, Cat-back Exhaust and pulley.

and read this too. http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24195

whatever money you jus spent kiss it goodbye ... dont ever fall for something like that again on ebay ... if you want performance parts you should be going to websites like www.sharkracing.com ... www.kdmstuff.com ... www.compactdivisions.com ... www.evofusionusa.com etc these are legit websites that offer REAL parts

If you really fall for this crap. go to radioshack and invest in an adjustable potentiometer for less than half the price.

I don't think anyone really knows what the wiring is cuz we all know how useless it is to hook up.

Usually, havn't looked at ours, but the IAT sensor controls the resistance through ground. Sometimes its the positive that gets resistered.

If the IAT is a 2 wire then it doesn't really matter how you hook up this "chip". Whether you hook it up before or after the sensor it really doesn't matter.

To think that they really used "black" and "red" wires makes me frown even more.

I will have to wait to look at the IAT sensor to tell you how to hook it up since I have to see exactly what style ours are.
