That's the dumbest song ever. Ice Cube is a racist A-hole. I remember he made that song that was Anti-Korean-American back then.

What the hell is he talking about?

"I keep it gangsta and why should change that **** all you muthafukas tryin to change rap"

Gangster Rap is what ruined the Hip-Hop image. Rap used to be friendly and talked about things like going to the movies with friends and stuff. Now it's only about crap.

its hard to find good rap songs now-a-days.

gangsta rap ruined hip hop? bwahahahaha! hip hop did it on its own especially when tyrese tried to rap in his latest album and sing his own hooks. i mean hell, the last song on the cd involved him arguing with the singer, rapper, and movie star sides of him

Nothing has ruined hiphop. You guys just need to open your ears to other avenues rather than the mainstream.

That's what I'm talking about. Eazy-E was the ****!

The only two cassettes I listened to in elementary school were Eazy's "It's On (Dr. Dre) 187um Killa" and Warren G's "Regulators"

Gangster rappers rap about their experiences growing up in violent drug invested neighborhoods. It didn't ruin ****. It's just that one persons reality can be way more ****ed up than another persons. Look at all the Rock songs that talk about drugs and violence. No one mentions that or says it ruined rock. Not everyone get's to have fun with friends and go to the movies because that's not a reality for so called gangster rappers. So they rap about what they seen and been through. And the rest is just entertainment. Did the killing and violence in the new Rambo movie kill Hollywood, or movies like it? Some people just take it too seriously. If you don't like it, don't listen. It ain't for you. You're not gonna say Broke Back Mountain killed Cowboyism are you? No, you're just not gonna ever watch the movie (and admit it at least).

The problem with hiphop now is that anybody with a little bit of money and a computer can make records now and sometimes start a lable. Everything is for the club now. Every album has a set format to follow. Gotta have a song about money, one about the *****es, one about clubs and so on. I remember when albums were just straight hard all the way through; when it was about lyrics and talent. Now if you can write a catchy hook and coreograph a fun dance, you're the ****!

Well said.

The "gangsta" rappers of the early and mid 90's were all pretty good. There are a bunch of newer rappers rapping about "gangsta" things in which they have no idea about (at least that's how I feel). So because they didn't grow up gangbanging now they carry illegal guns and a ki with them and land themselves in court then jail.

Exactly. I mean, there are some rappers now that live lives similar to early gangster rappers. But a lot of them, like I said before, are just following album format, or just acting hard. Especially all these wanna be Bloods and Crips over here on the East coast. That's a west coast thing. It's rediculous here now. These young motha****as claiming to be crip or blood don't even know the history of the gangs or what they are even originally (supposed) to be about. They just wanna get down with what everyone else is doing.

I remember a few years back when the bloods and crips were really first blowing up on the east. There was gang related violence at Princeton highschool in NJ. PRINCETON! For those of you that don't know what Princeton is, it's a town full of rich, preppy, well educated white folks. It's almost like the Beverly Hills of the east coast. There is no way there are true bangers in Princeton; no way.

I'm probably one of the few people that can speak intelligently about rap music, Elantras, cricket, video games, kickball and Scrabble in the world. You know how we do it.

Especially all in one sentence, lol.

It's funny how all these wanna be's are rappin' now and you got people like Ice-T playing a cop on TV, haha. OG baby.

Yeah, you're not the first person I've heard say that. But the way I see it is this; Ice T is like 60 years old now. At some point, you have to grow up and mature and put the bull**** behind you. Only a true business man can put the bull**** aside for the betterment of their career. For example, normally, Bloods and Crips don't get along and hate each other. But then you got Mac-10 (blood) and WC (crip) in a rap group together (Westside Connection with Ice Cube). There's two mature men that put bull**** aside and are getting money. How else do you think Game and Snoop can be really good friends?! It's all a maturity thing!

Gangsta Rap is a dying breed, its all about money and *****es and cars now. back then it was all about "what fool? i will blast you!" and just do it. Ice Cube to me has always been gangsta and is still puttin it down.

how the heck are you going to put a Chinese guy fixing his Escalade and offer him a Yao Ming basketball card... In a children's comedy?

Ice Cube is a hypocrite.

no, no, see we are talking about gangsta rap, not acting. and thats how alot of actors are but he was and still is rapper first, then actor/producer/director.
