bottom line is....
hyundais will never get the respect from people that dont own a hyundai
i go to the races every weekend where everyone meets up and hangs out. roughly 20 cars. hondas with apc pipes and aem intakes get respect but not me, and my mods are endless compared to them! cool.
im done with this ****, ive been a ricer ever since my first car at 15... crx
so, im in the process of buying a 91 crx for my project car... its 3900 bucks. vtec, owned and rebuilt by my buddy. intake, 55 shot of nitrous, just painted black. full 2.5" exhaust with greddy muffler and dc headers. accel wires. its definetly a sick car...ricer done right!
im definetly getting back into the ricer/underground street racing world.so now, my bike, my hyundai, and my soon to be crx will fill my empty holes!

Erm, ok. Have fun? If ''respect from the street'' is what gets you hard, I guess it's ok to go ahead and spend 4k$ + plates and gas for a car that impresses other people and not yourself?

So what's this underground rice racing thing?
Do you guys drive around with your civics driving under semi trailers and then stealing their cargo?
Or will you be selling guns and drugs and asian prostitutes?

No, they put bodykits on, paint them "road crew shirt" lime green, walmart spinner hubcaps, take the muffler off, put on an old coffee can, take the springs out so it's nice and low, then go talk **** to people who don't have hondas. That's badass yo lol

Alot of this "respect" comes from how the owner of the car acts. I've never had problems with anyone dis-respecting my car because everyone I know/meet quickly finds out that I'm knowledgable and have put some real effort into my car. Maybe its just in your head? I used to get a bunch of people walking up to me when I went to the track asking about my car and how I was doing.

ya, i told cbogg b4, that i get more self satisfaction from knowing my elantra is unique, than i would from hooking up a civic... theres just something rewarding in knowing your car isnt flooded with after market parts, and some of the mods u do are really CUSTOM...
i think u guys know what i mean.

Everyone one of my friends drive Hondas. When we get together and take pics of our cars MINE is the only one that stands out. I love that! Every Honda I see is a cookie cutter (Intake, DC header and Greddy Cat-back) they all sound the same, look the same and suck the same! Take that 3900 and Buy the Ngm supercharger kit and Rock a Crooked H.
If you ain't crooked you ain't straight lol......................
Looking for attention, or is it just jealousy?
Go get some pink paint and some stickers, you'll need them in your uber-underground world :D
DJ Hellfire
04-26-2008, 11:01 PM
Hondas didn't always get respect. They used to be in the same shoes Hyundai is getting out of now. Hyundais are getting more and more respect. It won't happen over night. Bottom line is, build your car faster than everyone elses, you get respect. Point blank! Suck it up! Like the world needs another ****ing fart can weed wackin Honda!

That's an awesome quote, but he really isn't lol! An J man, I'm from here too remember? It's not all about the hondas. For every decent, done right civic you see, you see another 200 ****ty, taped together, kitted pos junk. I think you should keep pushing with the elantra cuz you're going in the right direction. Run with it bro! Sometimes fitting in is about being different.

the greatest satisfaction i get out of my car is people's reactions when i tell them its a hyundai. and the confusion must come over the cop when they write "black sedan" on my parking tickets lol :D
ive also gotten "black mazda" because of the M&S badges i have in place of the crooked h's.

Lol, coincidentially i had a low slung late 90s Civic pull up behind me with the bass rattling my car, nice buzz from the rear when he reved it and purple neons. Right turn and he decided to pull wide into the second lane and i just stayed in front and floored it. When i noticed he was losing ground i let off and coasted to my turn where he proceed to blurp his throttle again. And i simply have intake and exhaust. (Disclaimer: all the preceeding was not condoned by EXD or its affliates and not recommended for the street)

I have always been shown respect when I go to meets. We have local meets, well used to, were like 50-at times 150 would show up. All I had to do was rev it up and the sound of the bov would make them all run toward my car (mostly a suby/srt4 meet with alot of hondas as well) It never failed to have people stare in wonderment and then ask the ? "is that really a Hyundai?" Then I have to take people for rides lol. I love my car and the uniqueness of it and if someone else doesn't like it then it sounds like a personal problem on there behalf.

I never had a problem getting respect at car shows either, i've won some so I know there isn't any problem NY2002ElantraGT and 2loud2k have also won trophies for their rides. If you want respect wtf are you gonna do with a $4k CRX, go out and buy a Datsun like me or an 80's rx7...there are sooooo many older japanese cars you can grab and be unique and (rwd) than a crx.

The UCF car club i go to once in awhile likes their power. 3/4ths the people there are either turbod or have a v8 and then a few have some high output v6s.
But i'll give you some quotes towards my car that are certainly worthy
Your car is sooo badass dude. Props for doing clean, tasteful mods to something people would never second glance.
I will say Silent Wolf has probably the cleanest nicely done Hyundai I've seen. Rather than big gaudy body kits and pointless retarded mods, everything has been subtle and can pass for stock. Very few cars at all can say that

bro, I'm just hooked on the part where you said you're paying almost $4k for a CRX. For $4k, I bought me my 94' civic, and my 63' Bel-air. If thats what you really want to buy pay less, because trust me....your getting less.

Wow. . ."street respect". Yep, glad I was never a tool that needed that to get by in life. As for getting respect, well that's more on the driver/owner than the car. If you're half the idiot in the real that you are here, I can understand.
Wanna talk about catching flack? I work at an acura dealership. I catch it 24/7. Myfriends, family, even the local forums. Now it's in fun because I've proved myself to be knowledgable and able to take a little ribbing and the car has proven capable. Shoulda seen the snickers and finger pointing at the first few auto-x's I went to last year. THe higher I finished, the more cars I destroyed the less that happened. Yesterday, in the process of putting the car 1-2 in class for the second event in a row I had new kids asking for help, and rides.
You want to be another "me too" honduh boy, go for it. But don't think you'll get any more of that false respect you're looking for.
