I'm just curious if anyone is paying attention to the current geopolitical happenings around the globe recently. With the food shortages, rumblings of an upcoming war in Iran and the issues with oil supply are you beginning to realize that things are no longer guaranteed? Is anyone preparing for hard times over the next handful of years?

Are you paying down debt? Stockpiling emergency food? Growing a garden?

Yes/no/maybe?

Nope. It will take a lot to make the north western part of the globe suffer from hunger, haha.

Live your life one day at a time homie.

Amen! But you kinda have to pay attention a little bit to the world. I Don't have cable tv, I don't read the newspaper and I don't listen to the radio. It feels good to not pay attention to the world and just live my life. A war with Iran though will spell disaster for us president Tom is out of his mind crazy.

To add to the original question, do you support a war against Iran? Do you even know why there might be a war against Iran?

Either way, I don't care. I have no control over it, why should I let it bother me?

Exactly. I think you fit the profile of the kind of person who would appreciate the movie. It's the kind of chit I watch all the time.

I don't know why and what and who is attacking Iran, but they're in ****, 'cause they pack nuclear weapons! Ha!

Either way, I don't care. I have no control over it, why should I let it bother me?

EXACTLY. Nothing we can do about it. Not worth our time.

lets see what happens to gas prices when they stop exporting to us after we senselessly invade them for some reason that'll more than likely only benefit a handful of higher-up political big-wigs and never have any benifit for us little guys. (no, i dont know why we're going to war with iran, thats why im moving to australia). the only the thing we little guys will get out of a war with Iran is $10.00/gallon fuel because bush still continues to feed our national reserve wich is up over, from what i've heard, a 25 year supply.

not to mention the billions of dollars we'll pump into that will only take away from alternative fuel research, so we have no choice but to suck on oil, and soon most americans will only be working to pay for the gas to get to work.

... maybe it will make the average american weight go down by making people use bicycles to go to work!

so it's a good thing for the USA.

and morning traffic will be much less crazy, so the ''richer'' people who can afford gas will have fun going to work.

News is sensationalized. Iran needs to be left alone. And we need to get the current idiots out of power. USA needs to stop spending its time and money meddling in other country's affairs!

I say drill Alaska/Dakotas. Screw the reindeer.

I wouldn't have as much of an issue with that as long as the dumb oil companies kept things clean and low impact.

The average American commutes 80 miles to work.

my mom was telling me, that in the newspaper they were going on about how the gas companies are slowing down production to hike up prices...

Carpooling? Public transport? There are answers. I use my car for 5 miles to get to the subway and take public transport for another 45 minutes every morning. If I can do it, anyone can.

Don't have debt aside student loans, so no issue there. I've been thinking about starting a small garden once I have more spare time on my hands to work it (after school lets out).

Beyond that, the future is not looking terribly bright for any of us really. But i suppose the American habits of consumerism and materialism are going to come crashing down on us very soon. There is no question that we will survive, its just a question of at what cost, in lives or to the environment.

That's the individuals fault. I commute 4 miles each way. There's no reason other people can't move closer to work.

I never pay attention to the news. I rely on my old friend EXD to educate me in current affairs (with supplements from the wife).

Some of us dont have a choice. Although its becoming more of an option in Charlotte, NC where I work, it'd be an impossiblity with my job for 2 reasons.

1st - I make service calls using my personal vehical
2nd - Even if I didnt do that, I live 20 miles from my office, in a different city. For me to catch public transport, Id have to drive 10 miles to the Express Van pick, which would take me to the nearest bus station another 15 miles away. Each way on the van is $1.50. each way on the Bus is $1.50. That'd put me at $6/day for public transit, and add at least an hour to my commute.

Now if I could afford it, i would live closer to the office, BUT I cant, especially considering the housing market. For me to live in a semi-safe neighborhood near my office, itd cost 3x as much as Im paying now, 20 miles away.

Now that gas has hit $3.60 near me, for the first time Im actually cutting back on how much I drive. Im canceling a camping trip next month, because it'd cost $150 just in gas to get there and back, its to the point where its not worth it.

It sucks. Whole freakin world is a mess right now. We're all in for some big negitive changes if something doesnt get straightened out soon. I feel sorry for the next president. Democrat or Republican, there's no way anyone can fix all the problems that have developed in the past few years.

Well let's just allow Al Qaeda to mess with Iran now. It seems they got pissed since Iran blamed the Jews for the 9/11 incident. Taking the credit that Al Qaeda had put into that.

I wish the dreams where I had super powers would come true. I'd annihilate all things that are wrong to me. Well that'd be too much though, since I'm very pessimistic.
