whatever your personal preference is...but i need some help.

My mom had a stroke at the beginning of the month. It happened while I was at work so you can imagine the hassle of trying to get information from anyone. It wasn't as bad as her last one 10 years ago but a stroke is a stroke. She's been at home since then and going through therapy. Out of work and stressing about losing her job. I've tried to take over (making appts for everyone, making sure the baby has milk...whatever.) I'm working 2 jobs so its starting to wear on me and I'm not sleeping well.

I just got a call from my sister a few minutes ago becuase her speech therapist is asking about her tremors. I talked to the speech therapist and she suggested we talk to her doctor about testing for seizures. Ok, fine, just one more appt I need to make. Well then about 5 minutes later, my sister calls me back because the therapist had called her doctor who said to call 911 and now the paramedics were asking questions about mom's medical history that she didn't know the answer to.

So I'm sitting at work, completely helpless, while they take mom off to the hospital again. I know she'll be fine, just more testing and medications she'll have to take for the rest of her life, but...as is their nature...this came out of nowhere and blindsighted me.

The bank screwed up my dad's paycheck, mom is out of work, my sister is 6 months preggo (a girl) so she's not working, she's freaking out and in tears, her bf is not working because he got hit by a car about 5 years ago, my bf can't work because of a knee injury courtesy of the US Navy, my little bro works with me at the HUT but that's minimum wage, and they let the preggo cat out of the house this morning and they can't find her...

any help you guys can give would be great...even just giving me more ideas of what i'm going to do with my car when this bull**** is all over and done with (and yes i'm still working on making it out to the SC meet). you guys have been great help already without even knowing it.

Good greif -- that is a lot of stuff to go through. Can you delegate any of the responsibilities so that you can get some rest? Are any of the relatives / boyfriends that are not currently working one job, let alone two jobs, responsible enough to make the appointments and such?

i just wanted to give you guys an update. i went up to the hospital right after work yesterday and while we were there my mom had what they are calling a pseudo seizure because she was still conscious (sp) while it was happening but is was some scary **** let me tell you what. heart rate sky rocketed to 175 while it was happening so cardiology will be involved at some point. they've given her some medications to keep her calm.

after her seizure she was pretty much calm. she had recognized my dad so she was holding his hand. she said she was tired and was yawning a lot, then she said she was cold and went back to sleep. i basically lost it so i left my dad at the hospital and went to get food for brandon and the other kids at home. i had stopped at the HUT to let them know i wasn't coming in that night and freaked out some more. then for some reason i got the notion to call brandon's mom (i've always been kinda freaked out about calling her) but i called and talked to her and we prayed together. made me feel a little better.

i went back up to the hospital later and found mom awake and talking to the neurologist. they are going to do an MRI because the CT didn't show anything and probably an EEG. he did say that he noticed some symptoms, which is great because the neurologist she saw on monday said she was normal except for her thyroid and that she should be back at work already. didn't even do a physical exam! i don't know whether to sue or just kill him.

we left mom after the shift change with the orders for the MRI and a bed upstairs. i called early this morning and she's upstairs and her nurse said that she had been sleeping all night, no more fits. i'm working a 15 hour day today and then i'll be able to go see her so i'll keep you guys updated.

one last side note...after talking with brandon's mom yesterday i felt a lot better. then i got a text message that said "God saw you struggling. God says it's over. A blessing is coming your way"

*and to answer your question, no they are not responsible, nor do they have all the information needed to make those appts. i was talking to the paramedics over the phone yesterday to make sure they weren't going to give her something she's allergic to x_X

Kudos to you for taking care of your mother.

Also remember that not everything that's A problem is YOUR problem....I'm really referring to the pregnant sister, two boyfriends who aren't working, and pregnant cat. To quote a Judge Judy episode I saw a while ago, "If you're healthy enough to have fun in the bedroom, you're healthy enough to get a job."
