I get calls from these guys all the time.

People got some on these guys:

Some dude named Gottem got some information about these scammers:

Apparently, they try to get all of your information like CC's, VIn Numbers, etc etc. When you ask them for their information, they hang up.

They've been calling me once a week and I can't stop it. Even when your number is on the "Do Not Call" Registry. There's reports of people who get the call at 4 am in the morning.

Never ever trust the authenticity of incoming calls. Even caller ID can be faked easily although it's not so 'popular' yet. (My friend demonstrated how to do it and it looked so easy..... at least for EE/CS people) There are even scams/voice-phishers who ask ransom telling a lie that they have kidnapped your children. :D

As Babot said, you can spoof phone numbers and it's getting more common. Yesterday I had a phone number come up on caller ID at 815 (my area code) - 000-0000.

Haha, poor Evan.

I used to answer my cell phone no matter what the number said. Lately I've been getting crazy area codes (not crazy, just ones I don't get calls from) so I've been not answering.

Are these the ones that are always calling telling you that your warranty is about to run out? I've been getting the calls all year (appox 3-4/week) and my machine keeps recording them.

Whenever I forget to take a movie back to Blockbuster, I get a cal from 000-000-0000 with an automated voicemail telling me that I need to bring my **** back. I always wondered how they do that.

yes that's it. It's ****ing annoying and it's ****ing illegal. Because they're calling to your cell phone and they call out of business times. I'm trying to do an investigation on this.

I get them all the time. Most of the time I get a real person and I sist the phone to the tv while I play COD4. Ha ha. It happens at least 4 times a week. Hell the last time it happened I picked up the phone 2 hours later and they were still on the phone. I said hello and they went right back into their speech. WTF?? I put it back to the TV.

No..it won't. *67 makes the caller ID say "Private Call"
