...and boy is **** expesive here. Me and my wife wanted to buy a new digi cam because the one we have is huge and uncomfortable in the pocket. We went in a Sony Style store and they had a poor camera selected, not to mention a small simple 8MP p&S camera was like $550. In the states, it couldn't cost anymore than $200-300. And Jordans, wow! $350 for a pair of Jordans at the Nike store. Cabby's drive worse than Manhatten cabby's. When we got here, we went to get something to eat and the block we ended up on to eat turned out to be a gay strip. All the stores were like gay oriented and the employees as well. That was wierd. The weather is decent though.

Hahah, I found it quite cheap when I was there in December. What part of Mexico? I'm sure if you are in downtown "give me all your tourist money" Cancun then I'm sure that could be the problem.

EDIT - What the hell are you doing on the internet while you are in Mexico? I went 7 days without the internet while I was there. I love the internet, but some times it's good to actually be on vacation while you are on vacation. I will admit though, it's hard to live without your daily EXD. So, I'm happy that if you are on the internet, that you are checking out EXD. Well done.

I found it kinda cheap when i was in Cancun mexico last year, you just need to learn how to talk to the people there so you don't get hustled. speaking spanish also helps,
boy is it beautiful in cancun though... i miss it.

Booked my trip earlier this week. Staying 7 nights in a Private Villa at the all-inclusive Sunset Grand Princess - south of Cancun in the Playa del Carmen area. It's a new resort, just opened its doors in December.

They've got an UBER-deal right now. You've gotta book before May 12, and travel before the end of the year. Go to bookit.com and search "sunset princess" and you can price it out yourself. Prices are going to vary due to where you're flying out of. I basically maxed out what I could have gotten (as far as best room). 7 Nights, airfare, round-trip ground transportation to/from the resort, insurance = $3139 for 2 people.

You can go way cheaper if you have a "normal" room.

Yeah, we were going to book the Sun Palace at $3500 for a week, and that was on a deal, but would have only been a regular room in the high-rise hotel. This one puts us on the 'floor', use of the private pool (only people in one of the 24 villa rooms get to use it) and access to some other villa-only things, like certain parts of the beach. Plus, all the other normal resort stuff.

We also looked at Secrets Capri, but it looked like it was going to be an older crowd there. That's a smaller resort, good for "quite time," we'll make it there eventually, but might as well take advantage of an active place while we're young.

Mike, we drove by that place various times while we were down there. Each resort has a different "gate" or entrance way thing so when you go back and forth as much as we did you see one and say "Ok, two more to ours." That way you don't have to even look for the signs. Hah.

As for the beaches, well, anyone can go anywhere on the beach. The one we were at had a pretty rocky beach, so we walked north a bit along the coast and went somewhere that had a better beach entrance. The people just wouldn't let us use their chairs. Same thing when we were in Tulum, Mexico. The coast is filled with small private resort things. We just found some parking, parked, then walked through to the beach. They let us use the chairs, but, they kind of forced drinks on us, oh wells. It was beautiful there. I think the wife is already planning a trip back.

Well, here's the deal. My wife is here on business. She's an auditor for Pfizer (a pharm. company; they make viagra and lavitra and ****). So she is here (Mexico City) auditing the Mexico company. So her room is free. So I just had to pay for my flight. She has internet in the room and I am using her work laptop. Hehehe!:D
