Im planning to get some rims. I was wondering if I could just buy any 5 bolt rims and slap it on?

do I need to do balancing etc if I say take my neighbours rims and put it on my car?

IF the HD bolt pattern is infact 5 x 114, then yes those shud fit, and i dont think theyre any wider than 7 or 7.5 inches, so u shud be good to go. they look like theyd be a lil heavy tho. lol

Thje bolt pattern is 5x114.3 or 5 on 4.5.

GK Tib rims fit the HD.

I have 18 inch Konig rims on my car.

well generally you dont wanna tank it, you should invest and have tires mounted first, but its not a total necessity.

You need to make sure the offset is right, too. Otherwise the wheels may rub on the springs or rub on the wheel well lip.

Well the first one is WHEELS ONLY. . . you have to have tires to put on them and the Elantra's have NEVER come with 17"tires. So you will need ot buy tires and have them mounted on the rims.

The second one, he can't spell Konig right (even though they are PRINTED on the wheel) and does not mention WHAT 5 bolt car they fit. There are 3 main FWD 5 bolt patterns. . . 5x100, 5x114.3 (Elatnra) and 5x120.

YOU NEED to find out what you're doing. You appear to be utterly clueless about the whole process. Take it to a shop since you appear to be unable to understand the simple concept that you need to know what you're buying.

also, you NEED to know the offset you car can handle and the offset of the wheels you're buying ... too much or not enough and the tires WILL rub.

www.tirerack.com lists wheels in 5x114.3 and a 45-50mm offset for the '08 GLS Elantra. Check it out, it lists ALL the info one could ever want to know about the wheels for your car.

^you're about 1 hour behind, Jalmir -- or maybe that's Canadian time, eh? (JFWY) ;)

If you want to make sure the rims you are looking at will fit, buy them from a reputable company that knows what fits. Try www.tirerack.com or www.discounttiredirect.com for starters. They will make sure that the rims and tires you buy are matched to your car.

225/40/18 tires on 18 inch rims do fit the HD. That is what I have on my car now.

Seriously, I have to ask this. Are you mentally impaired? Are you incapable of reading and comprehending simple text? Are you unable to do a single thing for yourself unassisted?

Or are you just too stupid and lazy? The answers have been laid out, the tools to HELP you find your answers are here. There is nothign, short of Physically purchasing your wheels and installing them for you that we can do to further help you.

Now's the time to **** or get off the pot son.

There IS NO UNIVERSAL RIM. . . Sorry, it just doesn't exist. Wheels are dependant on diameter (17", 16", whatever), width, offset and bolt pattern. One wrong = epic failure. So, as you (hopefully) can see, there can not be a "universal wheel". Wheels are dependant upon application.

I don't know how else to explain this. . . CHECK THE TIRE SHOPS/ONLINE SITES FOR INFORMATION PERTAINING TO YOUR CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean for crying out loud, WE'VE ALREADY GIVEN YOU THE INFORMATION TO FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF.

Not mad. . . I just am frustrated that I am unable to draw him the necessary pictures in crayola crayon on construction paper. That's the only thing left that I know of to explain this really simple concept.

Maybe I could try to draw it out in Paint with bright colors?

There is no such thing as a universal wheel. My truck rim, which is an 18 inch wheel will not fit the HD. Different bolt pattern plus the offset is different. Rims are designed for a specific application, and not made for all cars. The HD has a 5x114.3 bolt pattern, which is the same as the Tiburon and the Sonata. However, there is a slight difference in backspace/offset for the Sonata and Tiburon than the Elantra. Sure, the rims fit, but you are changing the geometry slightly.

Why are you wanting USED rims? Get something that is designed for the car. A tire shop can tell you the backspace, offset and width of the stock rim, which you would be required to know to get rims that are larger.

The 18 inch rim that is right for the HD can have anywhere from +42 to +50 offset depending on rim width and brand. Most 18 inch rims are 7.5 to 8 inches wide. and different rims vary in offset even with the same width. Tirerack gave me varied offsets with the same rim width for the HD. My rims are 7.5 inches wide. Don't know the offset offhand.
