1st - 2004 volvo s60r...yummy. loaded, turbo, AWD, 6 speed, IIRC, 300+/- hp, 56k miles...it was wierd though...it wouldnt go into 5th gear. if they find out why it wouldnt, and get it fixed, it may be something i can do...they can get my payments to around 300 where i want them, and the insurance on it is only 12$/mo more than my 03 elantra (137 vs 125 per month)

2nd - 2004 pontiac GTO's. 6 speed, ls1...i think 350 is plenty for me, plus, the 05/06s w/ 400hp ls2 are fetching a bit more than what i wanted to pay...actually checked out 3 of them...drove 1. one was on showroom floor, and other was at carmax and couldnt get a salesman they were so busy...

one i like most is silver, previous owner put the austrailian holden badges on it, dont know if i like em...~26k miles, new BFG's, paint looked very good. only a couple tiny rock chips on hood...expected from a 4 year old car.

the one at carmax was metallic black, 12k miles, tagged at either 18,995 or19,995...i dont want another black car though...

the one i drove was red, ~26k miles, said their bottom dollar on it would be 17,995

im thinking i can go back to the dealer with the silver one (they have it tagged at 21,9xx but its their "end of month", so they "really want to sell it" lol..) and see if they will beat the price on the red one...if i can get it down to 17,200 or so, i can probably get the payment i want...plus, insurance for a GTO is only 23$ more than the elantra, 150$/mo. HA!

also checked out a 2002 BMW 330ci, 2 door coupe, topaz blue...hood had some rock chips, bad touch up paint job, needed some lovin...it was auto :(, but did have aftermarket alpine deck, and 2 kicker L5's in the trunk, and the amps mounted into the trunk floor...looked very professionally done. because its an 02, my bank will only go 48-54 months, and they wouldnt go lower than 17,9xx on that, which is a lot more monthly than what i want to/can do. and my insurance on this? a whopping 137$/mo.

im just not sure if i want to do something like that, or just buy a beater to put miles on for work, since we go ~35 miles per day round trip...decisions...

heres the one i checked out http://columbus.craigslist.org/car/638962634.html ...this isnt the one i drove though.

i wouldnt go for the beamer. the fact that there is subs in there and stuff done to it might be an indication that the previous owner was a "little racy" and drove the car hard.

BWM is a good brand, but if you are ok with driver an import you should really go for the volvo. or look for another volvo with no gear problems. Volvos are build for life man. Parts are expensive yes, but they will last till eternity and drive great without being lazy or slow.

My mom has a V70 2.5 V5 TDI and i love it. Although you most likely wont be a diesel the gasoline cars are very nice as well. get a T version, or even a T5 and you'll be kickin some real ***.

GTO's are nice. But still american cars... go for quality, go import. Stay with a brand from over here and you will be happy :D

You do realize that Volvo is made by Ford, right?

Of the 3 GTO's I would go with the silver too. Black is hard to keep clean and gets hotter in the summer than any other color. Red just asks cops to pull you over.

Good luck on your choices.

Yes but just because volvo is owned by ford doesn't mean that it has the same ford quality. That volvo is a completely different beast from every other car they have. They are sort of left alone to do their own thing.

Not true. For the most part they are, but if you compare pre-Ford vehicles to post-Ford vehicles you can see / tell the quality of the vehicle is declining.

I didn't say they were a bad car, just they are not technically an import like steev-o was saying.

Jaguar and Range Rover are also owned by Ford.

Out of those choices I'd be in favor of the S60R.
