Can one of the mods start a poll on single exit or dual exit? thanks.
I originaly wanted an evofusion style exhaust but that would not work due to
the way the rear Astrel lip is designed. it would cause the muffler to hang too low. so I thought about installing the Spectra center exhaust, but that would not look right either.
http://www.evofusionusa.com/TeamSR/Hyundai/01elantra-exhaust.jpg
but now I really love the way the incus Exhaust looks like on the HD.
that exhaust is pure sex on the HD.

so after playing around with Photoshop for a while i came up with this.
not the same as the incus, but similar.
http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t111/Matrixloader/newexhaust2.jpg
or
a single tip?
http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t111/Matrixloader/singlecopy.jpg
Due to the rear lip an oval muffler tip would be the best choice IMO, but i really like the dual tip look.
otherwise anything else would drag or hang too low.
now, I know people say duel exhaust on our cars you loose back pressure, well the way i plan to have it made it would actually be a dual exit exhaust since it has only 1 muffler and splits at the exit after the muffler, not before the muffler.
im not an exhaust expert but i hope i can get some expert advise here,
the plan is:
Do either a 2inch or 2.25 inch custom cat-back, add a magnaflow resonator and a Dynomax muffler, split at the axle after the muffler into 2 seperate 1.75 exits with crome oval tips.
like this pic here.
http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t111/Matrixloader/incusexhaust51.jpg
now i figure, i should not loose back pressure this way, alot of dual exhausts other people post are always with 2 seperate mufflers and thats when you loose backpressure like in this pic here.

so what do you guys think? would it look good with the dual oval tips?

dual.

i like the dual mod you made in PS. That looks very hot to me. Honestly, i think the 08's are butt ugly compared to the earlier models most of us have. there is nothing sporty about it. But with a few mods, bodykit, wheels and that badass looking dual tip i think its hottttt!!!
But nuff bout the 08' sport... yours looks very nice with the dual! i would stick with the ovals for sure!
keep us posted on the progress of the build.
maybe even a DIY? (A)

well im not a welder, and i dont have tools to bend pipes, this will be done professionaly at a muffler shop.

aight. that might be a lil tot much for a DIY indeed. But still wanna see pics:D:bowdown:
EDIT: dude, what freakin time is it over by you? Shouldnt u be asleep?

lol, yeah. 12:43am here and yeah im about to sleep. will defently post pics when if i do this exhaust. i really like how it looks it the PS, so next i need to order the dynomax muffler and resonator. not sure yet if i should go 2 inch or 2.25 inch.

cool man.
something completely different: would you mind helping me get OEM front fogs? I see you have them...and im dying to get a pair. But i dont wanna spend more money, wait for a month, and find out i have the wrong stuff.
just pm me if you like to help me out.

What about true duals One pipe for each two cylinders. Would this be stupid. Also I would like to hear some sound of the Mag and Dyno stuff to see If it would be something I would like to get. Thanks BOB

someone had dual exhaust like that before and i think it actually hurt performance somewhat might have to search

i think that 08 up in thier is gorgeous!
but definatly! duals all the way!!!
something else to consider, i was always told with dual exhaust, that the pipes after the muffler should be smaller than the pipe leading to the muffler, to keep a tad bit of backpressure. so, something like 1 1/2".

that would is not possible on our cars, and even if it where it would kill performance.

not sure what is the smallest diameter pipe i can get but the pipes after the muffler where they split will be the smallest.

i like the dual tip idea, and ur on the right track with 1 muffler, and then splitting the pipes. my only concern is that the 2 tips would be too close together on the XD... the way it looks on the HD is great, they r spread apart, if u can get your tips spread a lil further apart i think it would look even better.
and i also agree, that HD is BEAUTIFUL!

Blackcasper had one, not sure if he is still around or how his was setup.
Ronniesan also had a similar setup to what im trying to do but his was 2.25 split to 2" at the rear after the muffler, his exhaust did not lose any back pressure according to him.
I don't understand why people call it a dual exhaust, it is not a true dual and it is actually just a single exhaust with dual exits in my opinion.
should be called dual exit exhaust.

thanks, im glad everyone likes the idea. I hope i can get this done soon and get the CF Evo X hood sometime this year.

because that calls for extra keystrokes (Dual Exhaust)

now, I know people say duel exhaust on our cars you loose back pressure,
Just to clear this up. You don't need to keep back pressure. Back pressure is just another way of saying restriction of exhaust flow. You should balance it out since having no restriction will possibly make you loose HP and to much restriction will do the same. You want to release a lot of the restriction when upgrading your exhaust to increase engine performance but not so much that you loose low end and only gain top end, unless this is what you are looking for.
Don't think though that you can't loose any backpressure because in order to gain power from engines through upgrading exhaust systems, you need to relieve the restriction (back pressure) to allow the exhaust to flow more.
The more restriction you have, the more work the engine is putting in to push the exhaust gases out instead transfering the power to the transmission.
What about true duals One pipe for each two cylinders. Would this be stupid. Thanks BOB
Not stupid but just not a good idea. Its better to have a 4-2-1 header. Having one pipe connected to a 2-1 header will allow for a gap in exhaust pulse timing and will screw up the scavenging effect.
BTW, Dual outlet looks really nice.

backpressure=bad.
exhaust velocity=good.
high exhaust velocity=low backpressure.

so what do you guys think i should do for the cat to the muffler before the split? 2 inch or 2.25 inch tubing? after the muffler im splitting the tips with 1.5 tubing.

Ok I agree they need to be spread father apart. BOB

What are you and Pete smoking? Obviously there is only so much room to work with there. How do you suggest they be spread further apart?

Either that or get some different tips like rounds or something. I am not a fan of oval tips. BOB

backpressure=bad.
exhaust velocity=good.
high exhaust velocity=low backpressure.
You can't have one without the other. To have velocity there needs to be pressure/backpressure.
High exhaust velocity = high backpressure on the front of the pulse but lower pressue on the rear of the pulse.
The smaller the pipe the higher the exhaust velocity but also higher the backpressure. go with a larger pipe, velocity goes down along with back pressure. You need to find a happy medium that allows the engine to breath without to much restriction but the pulses are still able to carry themselves out.

so i guess 2.25 should be good.

My thoughts...Buy a 4cyl. tib dual and modify it to fit. It cant be that far off. every other part fits...well most of them lol

2.25!!!!!!!! and get 4-2-1 headers to help distribute even length between pulses

i dont see teh sense in dual exhaust if theres only one header, if we had teh v6 with seperate headers then yeah, but idk. its just my opinion, i like having the stock muffler dump style. still debating on a new muffler though seeing as tho my headers still arent here

I just wonder where is the gaz tank vent ... will the left pipe be too close to it ? Just wondering ...

im not sure where my exhaust is going at this moment, im still debating on it because i want it to look good but not like rice.
I am currently looking at one of the tanabe mufflers because they are the quietest in its style.
I did a quick chop and came up with this...i will need to cut the rear lip a bit but i think if its done right it would look much better than the dual exit exhaust.

You would need to put a H pipe in to balance the flow. I think someone tried it and they lost power.
