This year my goal with the accent is 200whp. Which by my calculations should require approx 8psi from my super 16g. I havent tried hooking up my ignition to my emanage ultimate yet. Do you guys think that timming retard is required for 8psi? And what psi should I start retarding it at?

You shouldn't have to retard any timing for 8psi as long as your AFR is spot on.

Thanks Dave, how spot on does it need to be? Anyone else have comments?

You should shoot for ~12.5 to 1 AFR, I believe. I'm boosted, too and just to be safe I'm running with 4 degrees negative timing on my S/C because I know the AFR isn't right yet. (It will be after I install the SMT6 and Zeitronix wideband, though!)

What octane rating of gas are you using? Are you running 93, which would be your safest bet?

here you can find 94 at some gas stations but almost all have 91. I try to use 94.

12.5 is WAY to high for a boosted application under load. If you on a stock compression motor, I would shot for 11.5-12 MAX. My Turbo X3 runs 11.3 on a 28rs.

11.5-11.7 is what i'd aim for

yamaha - do you run any timing retard on your x3 ?

As soon as boost starts hitting drop down to 12.5:1 then as you climb past 4psi start progressing down to about 11.5:1 at WOT and high RPMs. You don't want to drop too low right from the get go as it will kill peformance and foul plugs.
