I can't believe this -- things must be different in Germany:

Don't you think this guy should have made sure he could comfortably fit in and drive the car before he bought it? To me, it's all his problem, not Volvo's!!!
So, any of you that are too tall to fit comfortably in their Elantras, go to Germany and sue Hyundai!
This sets a dangerous precedent. Does this mean that anyone who can't drive a car without running into things can sue the manufacturer and claim it's their bad design and not a trait of the driver?

Actually, I thought about this (not actually sueing them) but when I test-sat in Volvos at the auto show a year or two ago. Neither mine, nor my brothers, feet would fit in the car. We were both like - that's sucks, that's discriminatory, but only joking.

That is absolutely retarded! Specially made driving shoes...............c'mon! Are they not allowed to test drive cars over there or something? WTF!

Doesn't suprise me at all. We used to have rather large customers buy an Accent and then want seatbelt extenders. . . How about you A.) go on a diet or B.) see if you FIT INTO THE DAMN CAR!!! THese people were going to sue the dealer because they couldn't get them.

Difference in Bob's case of the fat people, is they were 'abnormally large.' The court ruled that the guy having size 12 feet was 'normal' - which I'd have to agree with. (I wear 14, my brother 17 - it would seem alright if my feet do not fit, because they are larger than 'normal')
are sizes different over there.. 12 is not that big. i wear 12. course i never beein in a fancy new volvo :P

Still... Hyunelan2 you figured out your feet didn't fit when you sat in the car the first time (and didn't buy one and then complain). Why didn't this guy?

Agreed - I have no idea why he bought it. Kinda like ordering a suit on the internet and complaining it doesn't fit right, huh?

^ Very much so.
I really liked the performance of the RX-8, so while looking at a Mazdaspeed3 I sat in one in the showroom. I'm a bit bigger than average, both in weight, width and somewhat in height (I'm 5'11", but tall from the waist up). My head was pressed against the headliner of the RX8 and my neck was crooked to the side (sunroof), and I had no place to put my left arm. So guess what? I wouldn't buy one! The same is true with the Mercedes SLK -- I just don't fit in it (not that I'd buy one anyway but I tried one out).

REally? You had trouble fitting in the RX8? I thought it was a decent fit for me (6'4"), although the backseat is totally worthless when I'm driving. Maybe I've never sat in a sunroof version.

I also like to sit upright. I probably would have been OK leaned back, but I don't like the laying-down feeling while driving.
I also have height issues in the '02+ Tiburon equipped with the factory sunroof. The friend that owns it is 5'10" and he fits fine, but he's got longer legs and a shorter torso.

It's amazing how much room a sunroof takes up. For instance, take my wife's 04 Santa Fe. We have the non-sunroof version. Her friend has the same exact Santa Fe (but in Silver). It has the sunroof and I can't sit in it without my hair brushing against the roof... super annoying.

That's part of the reason I wanted to / did put Tib seats in my XD -- the seats bottom cushions are about 1-1.5 inches lower than the Elantra seats when installed on the Elantra seat rails. My hair used to brush against the headliner in my XD because of the sunroof, but now I'm clear.

So you mean to tell me that Christopher "Big Black" Boykin can sue Ford because the roof of his Pinto isn't high enough for his head or because the seat isn't wide enough for hist fat ***?
