Bleh, looks like IS 300 headlights, Evo Fogs, and a tape on scoop (not that there's anything wrong with that)..oh and slightly modified sonata wheels!

Oh man, that looks fast and fast looks hot to me. Why won't Hyundai get up to speed and make us a factory rally car like Subaru and Mitsubishi do?
Like the first pic, fogs are too big tho...

Like the look of the car but your right on the fog lights being to large

new headlight area reminds me too much of the chevy malibu. Good cars, but I don't like all the 'popular' tuner cars, simply because of the lack of uniquness in them. At least the fog lights make it different than every other car on the road, but they do look dumb. That, and for legality, they'll probably only have a 27 watt bulb in there, making them no more helpful than a normal fog light.

I can't wait to see the WRC version of this car!

Darn ricey spoiler and huge foglights! It looks better than the current Impreza but it's still a blob on wheels, especially with all the tacked on stuff like the rear spoiler, hood scoop, side skirts, fog lights, etc that look like they just took a bunch of parts from various riceburner's wet dream cars and stuck them all on one without making sure they went together stylistically.
Why can't they make something that looks like the Tib with the performance of the Subaru STI?
Even though my family and I have owned 7 Subarus over the years I always thought that they could do much better in the body-shape design... once again they made a body that I think sucks.
Oh, and the wheel well arches look too much like the (ugly) Ford Focus.

Once again, this is just a pre-production concept, you know it will get seriously toned down before production. And as far as Subaru styling goes, the current Legacy GT in silver is the best looking car on the road today, in my opinion, no rivals in any price range.

Agreed. The Legacy GT is a sweet ride. Subaru needs to take a lesson from their own success with that car.

Except that the Impreza's design will always be a derivative of the WRC racecar. Form following function, there's no better way to do it.

Yes, I love the new Legacy. I saw one in hatchback configuration and it still looked very sharp. The Impreza, however... eh...
BTW, my wife's car is a 96 Impreza that I recommended (before we were married). So as I said I like the function, just not the form.

I'll start at the begining...
The spoiler is there because the WRX is capable of 145+mph and people in WRX's do take their cars to the track (there's a huge WRX/STI vs EVO meet coming up) so i wouldn't consider it rice since it's functional.
The huge foglights are from WRC heritage and people who buy WRX's do rallycross. if you don't like them you can buy can buy sweet *** carbon fiber covers for them
WRX comes with a topmount intercooler so the scoop is an absolute necesity. how can that be rice?
Side skirts... for people who are gonna put on a body kit it's a plus because you only have to find front and rear pieces. if you don't like them there's tons of people who will buy them off you :D
As far as looks are concerened that's a personal opinion so I'm not gonna get into that.
When a car can do jumps likt the WRX and the suspension seriously compresses you'll love that you have those big ol flares cuz if you didn't your tires would probably hit the fenders and they'd go flying off.
I can't beleive you've owned 7 subarus and think that all the parts are just "ricer" parts all parts you named with the exception of side skirts are functional items that are necessary if you use the car the way it was meant to be.
By the way I owned and loved my 01elantra for three years b4 I gave it to my little brother and bought the rex. I used to post here all the time but i was under the names Phat01GLS/rcblanco77. I went to several meetings and met many of the west coast tibby guys.

I didn't know you had sold the XD. I wondered why you never came over to the new site. Congrats on the new car, now get back to the WRX boards, haha, just kidding.

Hey Super,
I actually got so dammed attached to the car that instead of trading it in I gave it to my little brother for his graduation. We're working on making it faster. We're done installing the sound system (RF componets up front, 6x9 in the rear and two 12" subs in the trunk) and he is seriously considering a direct port NX system if a reliable tuned turbo option doesn't show up soon.
just so you know I stand up for the XD's and tibby's when someone bad mouths them on the WRX boards (although I've only seen it happen twice)and at least one RS guy was like WTF when a white elantra with black rims pulled on him from a roll it was a blue RS and it was on the 101 freeway by Universal Studios Hollywood.

Sorry GLSWRX, I didn't realize that by expressing my opinion I would offend you... I personally just don't like the styling.
I agree that most of the stuff is functional for rally racing. However, 90% of people that would spend the $30K plus for that car wouldn't ever take it off road.
The hood scoop isn't too bad, and I agree that it is functional and necessary for the intercooler. The STI that I like for performance reasons doesn't have the big fog lights anyway, so that's not really an issue. The spoiler may be functional for downforce at over 100 mph, but unless you take it to a track it's just that much extra weight to lug around.

Actually if you re-read my post you'll see that I said that looks are a personal opinion. Some like fat, some like skinny, some tall, some small, etc. It's a personal opinion.
90% is a little high but let's say you're right... The other 10% like me really appreciate the off-road stuff and it is nice to be heading back at night through the mountain in almost complete darkness and have some nice big *** fog lights to help illuminate the road up ahead to slow down for snow and mud and stuff like that. If you don't like the fogs sell em' someone will buy them right away trust me or like i said in my earlier post get some cf fog light covers they're cheap lightweight and they look swwweeet!
As far as the spoiler, like I said earlier STI guys do track their cars often... There's huge meets that are put together at Willow Springs and other tracks similar to it. And it is a Carbon Fiber Spoiler (extremely light weight) you're not lugging around that much extra weight. Maybe 3-4 lbs... If instead of filling up your tank you leave a gallon out you've saved way more weight than by not having a functional carbon fiber spoiler. Besides there's tons of guys that will buy or trade you for your cf spoiler in a heart beat you just CAN'T lose.
I just think that someone who buys an Imprezza knows the type of car their buying and would expect fog lights for a car with 4wheel drive that can be off-roaded. I would also expect a functional wing on a car that's capable of doing 145+mph because i may get an itch in my @$$ on a weekend and decide to hit the track, the fact that's it's cf and lightweight is just a nice +

Oh, I didn't realize that the spoiler was carbon fiber. That does make a difference.
Yes, the large fog lights do work well for off-road, especially if they're going to get splashed with mud or something similar since it would take more stuff to cover all the lens.
I personally just wish they'd offer it in two trims; one with the full rally gear fogs and spoiler and such and another like the older Japaneese STI that was much more sedate on the outside with the same gear underneath.

Is it new production model? what year? or just a face lift of current model?
New SAAB 92x just came out. I wonder if they'll change to new model if Subby made new Impreza in a year or two.

The 92x is stupid. I drove one before buying my 04 GT. 8,000 more than the subaru 2.5 and for little apparent reason.
