my headers here n im getting an o2 sensor welded in the stock location it would normally be in (1st sensor)
and i need to know what size/threading the o2 sensor/bung has to be, and where would b my best bet to find one today.
i think thats all i need right now.

go to a muffler shop with your O2 sensor and have them weld it in for you. Or get a bung from them.

thats not my question... O.o
i asked what the dimensions/size/threading is on the sensor so i know what kind of BUNG to buy.... O.o

no they wont do that apparently. according to pete he has ot buy his own materials. welds r' us aint to legit!

im on topic thats what you told me...
the threaded area is 1" in diameter on the sensor
slyderdai
05-21-2008, 05:11 PM
well sir I'm not gonna get the mics out and measure the thread size and Diameter for you. Take your O2 sensor out and go to autozone/advance or a muffler shop with it and find the right one. You could go to the hardware store with it and find a nut that fits and weld that on there instead. Nuts are like 28 cents.

or just find a welding shop that does what any other welding shop usually does when you pay them

Oxygen sensor bung should be 7/8 IIRC. Worse case go to the hardware store and get a bolt that fits and get that welded on.

anybody know what kind of material the obx headers r made of???
slyderdai
05-21-2008, 07:05 PM
should be stainless steel. IDK maybe just chrome plated regular steel. Put a magnet on it and see if it sticks if it doesn't it stainless. Who is doing the welding??? If it's you and it's stainless don't **** it up it's tricky welding stainless if you are a noob at it.

It's ''supposed to be SS''.
Any exhaust shop has like 400000 oxygen sensor bungs for like 1.50$ a piece.

also there should be an )2 bung on the flex pipe. so you would need to weld the bung after the cat on the stock piping.
Pete03GLS
05-21-2008, 07:15 PM
huh? im talking about the very first sensor, before the cats, the one thats next to the oil dip stick. theres already a sensor on the flex pipe.
and it is stainless... magnet didnt stick to it :(

good ol' obx!

ok well unless i missed something... i thought adding these headers with the flex pipe it came with would basically delete both cats... O.o... now im confused...

it will, he was saying if you want to be without cels
Pete03GLS
05-21-2008, 09:49 PM
i can be without cel's and still get rid of both cats.

He's probably counting on the spark plug defouler to work. He'll find out soon enough on his own that it doesn't always work.

i may be wrong... but i think swifty has an obx header, with both cats deleted, and he says he doesnt get any cel's. again... i may be wrong, but i think thats what he said.

yeah but pete you aren't that lucky. If your gonna run catless why care about a cel??? I have a cel but because I'm lazy and don't feel like extending the wires. I can reset the ecu and have it gone for 3-4 days at a time.

im gonna have to inspect the under neath of my exhaust.
but im deff gonna make sure n get this **** done right so i dont get a CEL... im kinda OCD bout that crap. so we'll see.

05-21-2008, 10:48 PM

anybody know the gauge rating of the sensor wires???
i read some where its about... 20 to 22 gauge?? is this correct?? and does anyone know approximately how much more length ill need to add to it?
also... i understand that adding length to these wires could possibly trip a CEL due to the change in current and what not... would using a lesser gauge wire offset this effect? for some reason, this idea popped into my head, and i figured its better to ask, than dismiss it as a bad idea.
i also read on this website, the person said, these wires should NOT be soldered, instead they should only be crimped.
http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/forums/showpost.php?p=31628&postcount=2
is this true?
KeWLKaT
05-22-2008, 12:34 AM
No, it's not true, solder is always the way to go.
''Gauge rating'' lol you make me laugh sometimes.
Just measure it... I think it was about 18 AWG or something

05-22-2008, 12:41 AM
I'm going with CEL on this one Petey, lol. Good luck!

So wait. What you're saying, Pete, is.....................................You need a new bung hole?...................HAHAHAHAHAA!!
Pete03GLS
05-22-2008, 01:25 AM
lmfao... well, according to recent research, i may not need a... new bung hole... after all :D lol
SilverElantra
05-22-2008, 04:55 AM
not after a few people on this forum get through with you, ur gonna wish you had an extra hole. anyways back on topic.
Cypher
05-22-2008, 07:38 AM
header ties?
Pete03GLS
05-22-2008, 12:44 PM
yea, its like zip ties, but better, to hold the header wrap in place.
KeWLKaT
05-22-2008, 01:29 PM
By ''better'' I hope you mean ''made out of metal since zip ties are plastic and will actually melt on your exhaust''.
Pete03GLS
05-22-2008, 01:30 PM
precisely.
