You are asking on an Elantra site... of course we are going to say it's worth it. You can't get much out of N/A mods, but if you want to go forced induction there is power to be had.
Please take a look at each of the engine performance sections and READ READ READ.

Might as well hang on to it, keep it in good running condition. Smaller, gas efficient cars like the elantra are only going to jump in value in coming years.
N/A mods are alright. you won't see huge gains in anything, but they help out a bit.

You can get a little power out of it, but nothing that's going to make it into a supercar. Once you start getting into the high-dollar forced induction systems, most people's reliability has gone out the window. If you're going to go that route, make sure you have another car.
Most bang for the buck on this car is to be had in the suspension/handling department. You can make some massive strides in that area without spending a fortune. Money is much better spent there than on mediocre engine modifications.

Tell you what.... HECK yeah!
Think about it. Gas prices at $4.00, a little ole turn up shouldn't cost you more than $60 if you find the right parts.
I've got an XD from 2001, and an HD from 2008 Like I try to tell me wife,. Why spend the Thousands of $$$$$$$ on a new car if the ole one works like a dream and runs great. A little money here and there is worth a heck a lot more than $300 a month.
these darn Hyundais!, they JUST Don't DIE!!!!!
