rotor bolts? and new wheels
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am having same issue as you some of you guys had in the past - i have an 06 gt - i was wondering if the rotor bolts on this 06 can be taken off or not? (when looking to put new wheels on)? Some years you can -some you cant?
And has anyone had or heard of people having problems that have done this after the fact- ie after 20-30 k miles the rotors becoming loose, etc
so i guess im going to have to look at wheels with openings cut out in the back? or keeping the stock alloys.
problem is that ordering onine you can get such a better deal than having to go somewhere decide what you like then test fit only to find that they dont work.

Welcome to EXD!
As far as I know those can be removed from all 2001-2006 Elantras. I'd wait for confirmation from an XD2 owner though.

the wheel studs do come out, if u need to take them out. but im not sure i under stand what the exact problem is here. u dont need new studs if ur putting rims on your car, however u may need tuner lugs, to fit into the smaller rim holes, because the stock nuts will not fit on the after market rims. im not sure if that answers your question or not.

The screws on the rotors are only there for assembly purposes. The rotor is actually held in place by the wheel itself. The screws are there to hold the rotors only while the car is being built. You don't need them. I believe the rear ones are low profile/flat, so you may not need to remove them. Either way, you don't need them at all.

Ok ....So if i dont need them for functionality and I remove them - then something breaks -related to the break system lets just say the rotors become warped or something- what happens to my warranty when they look and see that there are bolts missing!!!? I believe this would Void my warranty?

My 05 has both and rear screws recessed. My 03 had pan head screws and those caused issues with certain rims. Either way, I removed them on both cars and had no issues.

Same, the xd2's don't have the screws that stick out, they sit flat with the rotor, shouldn't be any problems there.

You obviously didn't read/understand what I said. The screws just hold the rotors on the car while it's going down the assembly line so they don't fall off before the calipers are put on. The wheel is what actually holds the rotor in place and in place against the hub. As long as you properly tighten your wheels, your brakes will not be damaged. Brake rotor warpage isn't covered under warranty anyway unless they warp within like 1200 miles of ownership. But if you have recessed screws where the head is level with the rotor hat, just leave the screws on.
