View Full Version : 2002 XD GLS - looking for SRI advice

So I'm strongly considering installing an SRI in my 2002 XD (which I've finally managed to have repaired to working order after half the drivetrain crapped out on me at once).

Enough *****ing.

What manufacturers are recommended for SRI assemblies? The whole kit-out, if possible - brackets, tubes, etc. I'm not a particularly aggressive driver, but I've decided I'd like to learn to tinker (which probably means no need for MU filters, for example).

Advice is welcome.

Subsidiary question: A common complaint about SRIs vs CAIs seems to be the airtemp difference, which makes sense on the face of it. Would it make sense to attempt to manufacture some sort of silicone baffle for the resonator to bring in a little more cold air? Or is that just a waste of effort that could be avoided by installing an LRI?

Secondary edit: Or should I consider getting an Apollo cold intake system?

Bugger all.

there is a guy over at newtiburon that is selling a AEM cai w/ the long pipe damaged so it can be used as a SRI.

Are tiburon-friendly air intakes compatible with elantras? I had no idea. Does this extend to many different engine parts? I know the dashboards are interchangeable.

You have to remember, the i4 Tiburons use (basically) the same engine as the Elantras.

Wow, I had no idea. That's great to know.

the sri I used was a generic 90deg elbow unit from Ebay.

this looks a lot like it, just silver not blue.
