View Full Version : Other vehicles powered by Beta II?
Does anybody have a list of the non-hyundai vehicles powered by the beta II?
I'm guessing there's some mitsu's and mopars out there with the beta II in them but haven't found a good resource for that info.

i think kias and hyundais r the only ones?? but im probably wrong, as the mitsus have their own engines now, unlike the 1990's where both shared engines.

No mitsus, no mopar (mopar is a parts supplier BTW, look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mopar you prolly meant chrysler).
Only hyundai/kia. That's it. What makes you think the opposite?

P.S. HYUNDAIS had MITSU engines, not the other way around, back then.

Yeah that's the thing. I remember reading once upon a time that the mitsu's, hyundai were using the same engine. Knowing that dodge imported stuff from mitsu going way back to the 70's I figured there was some kind of overlap. But not sure when/if it's still going on.

I just told you, it doesn't. No other car has the beta2, except hyundais and kias.
All the crap you are talking about is pre-1996.

Well, I know for certain the dodge colts back in the 70's were mistus. I think (meaning I'm not positive) that this was the case for many of the dodge 4cyls from the 70's to late 90's. (colts, omni's, shadows, etc) And from what I hear now that chrysler is under new owners, they're gonna buy the Versa (nissan) and rebadge it as a dodge. So..... If that overlap of mitsu/hyundai/dodge was still going on, I was wondering what go-fast parts would be interchangeable. But it doesn't sound like the overlap stuff is still going on.

Might be, but definitely not with the beta2.

There was a Korean supercar, posted on this site, that used the Beta II.
Might be, but definitely not with the beta2.
According to this article: http://www.automobilemag.com/features/news/0805_hyundai_engines/index.html hyundai is still involved with mitsu and chrysler but for the theta engine.

Looks like the I4 didnt make it to production, but it was one of the options when it was first under dev. It looks like they use the Delta platform only.

"Though it has yet to be announced, buyers are to be offered the choice of two lesser motors along with the aforementioned V8. The first of the alternative powerplants is a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four, which makes 200-horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque. Weighing in at 987 kg (2,175 lb) thusly equipped, the Spirra is capable of reaching 100 km/h in just 6.4 seconds, and has a top speed of 225 km/h. "
Old article though...
