Sure, but it's quite expensive to find an engine and get it into Canada. Then you'd have to see if it would fit as is or what would have to moved around to make it fit, plus custom engine mounts, also, a way would have to be found of running all the engine's computer and wiring and integrating it with the XD's computer and wiring. Then there's the transmission, you'd probably be best off to find a Talon FWD turbo transmission and having it fitted. If you really want a 4G63T in an Elantra, buy a 1992-1995 Elantra, it's a much easier fit.

Anything is possible if you have the money. I recently read in SCC the articles on the Mini Cooper with a Honda Integra Type R engine and a VW Golf with a Cadillac V8 Northstar engine.

And good luck getting that car approved to drive on the road. Generally motor swaps are only legal when using a engine from the same maufacturer as the vehicle and the engine must be the same age or newer than the car.

I never heard of that. People take 6 bangers out and swap them for 350's all the time, in all sorts of cars. If this were the case, wouldn't hot rodding be dead?

Besides that, you have to comply with the original smog regulations as well. Swapping a V8 from a I4 would create a mess when you get it tested and it can't get to the levels of the original engine.

Most of those cars are old enough not to have to worry about the restrictions. Once the car is 20-25 years old(can't remember-too lazy to look) you can do almost anything you want provided the car is still safe to drive, has dot legal tires and is muffeled. Now there are some people that will just do a illegal engine swap and not have any problems because they have less stringent inspections and emmisions testing in their neck of the woods or they know someone to pay a little extra $$. Do a little looking and you'll see that you can't just throw any engine in any car and not piss off some part of the govt.
