So my EF catback showed up thursday while I was at work. Had some junk to deal with thursday and friday, finally got around to installing the kit today. I think it took all of 40 minutes including finding the tools, jacking up the car, pulling out the old exhaust, putting in the new, dropping the car back down and going for a 5 mile test drive.

Is the EF catback a fart cannon? No.
Is it loud? Nah, if you have an SRI it basically evens out the tone front and back instead of just front.
Does it fwap fwap fwap fwap when you let off the gas? No
Does it backfire? No
Is it easy to install? Hell yeah, it's harder to get out the old parts (rusty bolts) than it is to put it back. You don't need a lift, just a good pair of jack stands will do. Hand tools are all you need to install this. Socket set, open end wrenches or adjustable wrench (shudder) and a long flat screwdriver (used to pop the rubber hangers off the hooks on the old muffler)

So far there's only two things I don't like about it (which most "tuners" do like);

Chrome! I hate chrome! But a can of BBQ Hi-Temp satin black will fix that.

The exhaust pipe sticks out too far.

So, one day when I have a couple hours, I'll pull the muffler part (easy!) and scuff it up with some steel wool, shoot it with the black bbq paint, cut off the excess pipe and tack on a basic turn down piece.

I'd put this in the book as the easiest bolt on I've ever done. Well done EF.

good luck painting stainless and getting it to stick for good. But cool anyways. I might buy it soon. I should have taken advantage of the deal they offered about two weeks ago. 225 plus shipping

yeah, I hate that polished SS as well. I'll be doing the exact same thing to my EF exhaust.

don't have that stuff (yet). if I go with a header, I'm going to probably get the EF header set. Since they say it's not supposed to give the typical bumble bee sound many other headers do. I really don't want that sound.

Header wrap is good for quieting them down and transfering more heat out of the engine bay, but the possibility of fire would always be on my mind.

If you're going to cut the tip and tuck the muffler anyway, why the hell would you scuff it up and paint it opening it up to the possibility of rust in the future? Tucked you're not going to see anything anyway.

Tucking it really isn't an option. You'd have to cut and rebend the hangers. Which means the piping would have to shift forward. Unless you get the pipe between the muffler and where it couples to the next piece re-bent. And really, from what I remember there's not enough clearance for that.

I dont understand how the possibility of fire will increase with header wrap...cracking the welds, yes.

as for rust, the whole point of using stainless is that its corrosion resistance is intrinsic to the material, so scratching the surface wont produce a noticeable increase in corrosion.

oil, grease, dirt etc collects wonderfully in header wrap. At least the fiberglass kind. Soooo.... Flammable goo in a hot place, viola. Now the wrap itself may not catch fire, but all the crap soaked in to it could.

yeah, I guess it could happen. doesnt seem like it would be a huge problem though unless you're slathering oil on the wrap.

Last time I talked to brad from evo, he said their current vendor name was "koreancarstuff". I Think. There might be spaces in between the letters. Si if you are looking for evo stuff at a good price on ebay, try that
