I am looking to get some new tires later this month. What suggestions might you guys/gals have for a set of four 215/45r17 for under $300.00?

i had the fuzions.
Good dry warm weather traction, useless until they're warmed up though. Not that great in the wet, but if you can find them for $300, not too bad.
Dont think I got 20k miles out of them, so not a long term tire.
Im on Falken ZE-512's now, they're pretty good. Better wet traction than the Fuzions, but dry isnt as good. They're also more expensive.

it will be hard to find tires of that size cheap unless you go on the net, and then you'll have to pay for them to be mounted and balanced
ive always liked the falkens

dont forget youll spend at least $40-$100 on installation unless youve got a hookup. Tire Kingdom charges like $15/tire i believe.

My General Exclaim UHPs only lasted 15k so I'd be wary about the Generals if you u want long term. Otherwise the UHPs handled quite good.

Ultra High Performance tires aren't going to last because of the type of rubber they use. The Altimax HP's have a 55,000 mile warranty and there's even a reviewer that put on 73,000 miles on the tire.

i cant believe people on car forums dont have hook ups from local forums. 15-20$ per wheel/tire is nuts. i pay 20$/set and have 3-4 people i can get to do it at any point

That's what I'm buying. Incidentally, Discounttire local stores match pricing.

I do my own and it costs me nothing. So what? Not everyone has a "hook-up" and some want it done right, not just cheap.

I don't know an easy way to put this. . . . JUNK.
Seriously, with tires you WILL get what you pay for. Buy the cheapest thing you can find and they will be some of the noisest, squarest tires you;ll ever find.

Really? I have some friends that still live in Japan and they swear these tires are just as good as Potenza RE-01's. Granted one has a skyline like my old one and the other has 180sx. Oh well I will start looking at local shops for good deals for the tires everyone has posted. Thanks

Fuzions are noisy as hell, if that bothers you, def skip them.

Mine aren't I have heard the HRi's are noisy but the ZRi's I have are actually pretty quiet. and as I said before they handle really nicely so far. I haven't gotten to test winter out yet but I will. I know they are awesome in the rain though. I've tried to break traction driving in circles and in the back parking lot at my buddies job (it pretty covered in rubber and oil and all that from loading and unloading with a tow motor) and no luck yet.

just wait till you get to 10k miles. they ROAR on the highway once they get some wear on them. Main reason I didnt buy them again, that and before i hit the top of the wear bars, i had one fail on me with the side wall separating from the tread.

I am bringing this back from the dead.
I waited for new tires too long, now I really need some. I really want some Kuhmo's again and I really like the Kumho Ecsta AST 215/45 r17. Reading about them online all I can find is really good stuff, long wear life, good traction, good price. What do you guys think?

I am a little 0ver 10k on these tires and they are still quiet and perform really well. I travel mostly highway and it is fine and dandy

^I have those now. They are most certainly a warm weather tire. They run when it's cold, but are a little shakey until they get warmed up. No complaints about wet surfaces either. They have been a good tire.
