I have been carrying around a template for a week to all the dealers here (very nice) and found that the 03+ Toyota Corolla matches in lenght and curve (XD sedan). The XD sedan has a 112 cm window, the GT 105,5 cm. So I bought this.
http://images.andale.com/f2/118/100/11257562/1060993323293_1063131696946_WR_TL03.jpg
Price was $56 for me, in the US $46
I emailed to see if they have more. Will post pics when it gets here.
It will be here in 10-14 days. I will also post issues if any. This one fits on the glass and looks smooth.
This thread was started as to not infringe on others.....

if you're asking hyunelan2 or TNT4ME then the name of the store i assume on the picture ;) (http://www.4caroption.com) unless it's an evel plan to trick everybody. and if you're asking me then the answer is i didn't buy it. GTS doesn't even make them for XD's as far as i know even though they said they were gonna by the end of the summer

Yes, I bought mine from 4caroption. I wouldn't necessarily jump on the bandwagon until TNT and I receive ours. They might need some slight modification to fit properly, I'd wait and see what needs to be done exactly... I purchased mine so soon for other reasons. I'm guessing it will take at least SOME modification.

thanks didn't catch the name on the pic. I'll wait for this guy to post pics before i buy.

No trick, mine was on ebay from that company. If it is like the solarwing (I hope not) then I have silver vinyl that will go on it or paint.

Mine will get painted OEM color by a bodyshop, or the dark gray to match the lower lips on my car, probably OEM pewter (paint code LS) though.

Agree with Hyunelan on this, wait and see the results. We had been down this road with the lip kit thing. Although, I don't think that will be the case here.
BTW "H", wait till you see that grill in the spring (still working on it, looks nice though)
*Bump*
Hyunelan2, did you get yours yet? I'm still waiting, should be another 6 days for me....
hyunelan2
10-06-2004, 03:17 PM
No, I'm hoping it will be here any day now. It shouldn't take that long for me.
EDIT
Well, mine came in, just looked at it over lunch. The width is good. The curvature is good. Unfortunately the shape is bad. The top of our rear window is straight across, the spoiler/visor swoops in a downward arch, meaning it looks like you mounted it on the middle of your window. Maybe with some FG work, you could use this as the start of a template, but it won't work out of the box.

wonder how the curves work out on a hatch...you got one around your area to hold it up against?

Well, it's my B-day, and I got my spoiler in the mail. What a day!
OK, I do't know how to do the thumbnails so here's the pics:

I just really, really hate the gap between the top of the visor and the top of the window:

I'm not sure how it will look trimming down the 'points' on the sides to make it snug up a little better. Just looks like it doesn't belong.

hmmm...i don't think there's enough material at the "points" to be trimmed to make it flush..to me it looks like you'll run out of the flat area on the sides

I just re- re- (2X) measured this. It will be fine. I will cut it tomorrow (night time here now)
Then I will update the pics. Basically it will be just shy of where the flat stuff runs out. There will be a 1/4" left. Should look good. Plus I love when I have a chance to use my power tools.

LOOKS GREAT! How did you measure/line up the cut? Just wondering, since you had such good results. Also, what kind of tool did you use for the cutting?

I have to let my digi cam recharge then I'll take a pic of the piece I used. Basically went and got a scrap piece of thin plexi for free (see through), marked it from the top on the roof (not the glass), cut it, checked again, then set it on top of the spoiler and cut. A picture is worth a thousand words. Will post in about 1hr....
I used a jig saw with a 32 tooth blade very carefully. You have to lift the back the jigs table on the saw as to not scratch when cutting (or use a piece of cloth under the table, that's a PITA. Then oribital sander with 120 grit.

Of course your right, we should get along. :) This thread was started as to not have this happen. Some people just don't know when to butt out :headshake ...(read first post last line, I TRIED to be nice and professional)
Anyway, here are the pics of the template. If you take your time and mark correctly, this is pretty simple, took about 30 min to do. As you can see I taped it off and in the middle there is not much material to play with. The writing says "Above window". If you try and mark the glass, it will have the wrong angle.
http://www.nitrousworld.com/pictures/template2.JPG
I like to find my own solutions,I have alot of success. And if not, when I make a dump run I notice the failures. :D
BTW: It only looks long. It's just not taped down with the 3M tape.
Spike, whatever....don't go away mad, just go away.

I have decided to go ahead and paint this and the side visors. I've wanted to take the black tape off for a while now. Should look sweet when done. This will be the last mod I do, as my car will then be complete in my eyes. PICS updated soon (1 week or so)

Yes. I used some WD-40 on a cloth, let it sit a miniute and it wiped right off. It's just a thin deal.

Ugh, I don't like it. It's too overbearing and cheap-looking. Maybe I'll change my mind once it's painted body color, but I think it will still look too much. T, it looks like your car is wearing a cheap, plastic hat. Just my 2c's.

Time for an update. Had some extra time today. This is a vinyl sheet I put on so the wife could decide which she liked better. It will still get a black border around the edges for effect. Opinions welcome (sure even negative ones, because I'm pretty happy with this so far) So here's for all that wanted to see it painted (temporary)

Yea it does look better in black.
But still looks pretty good
hyunelan2
10-13-2004, 12:10 PM
The color on it really makes that dip in the curvature stand out. Don't know if I like that... hmm.
TNT4ME
10-13-2004, 12:24 PM
I must honestly say (she's not here heheheh), the wife is right on this one. Took the vinyl back off and it looks alot better. She just likes it " Because it matches the visors and the front guard". But I have to agree on this one. The black hides the middle dip and follows the lines of the window visors from the side like pictured in my signature pic below. So next spring, I will put this on (in black).
BTW, because of the reflections, the pictures don't give justice to the spoiler. Even some neighbors have said they like it a lot and it fits the car well. Just comments...

I think the community has spoken. I have recieved 12 PM's asking where I got this from (read the picture..), so It looks like there will be some running around soon with this on. The more I look at it the more I like it. It just flows with my car. I also can't wait to see it complimented by the M3 trunk lip.

I just recieved mine, ordered 2 weeks ago (thx anyway TNT4ME)
Now gotta cut. Pretty thick than I thought. I will try with hex saw or dremel tool.
Oh well, I just installed now. Took about 40 min total.
Cut with dremel tool.
I would say it isn't perfect but with that price, I love it.

I know this topic is way old, but I was just pointed to it for the first time today. I have a suggestion for how you might transcribe the line more easily, if I may bust out a little knowlege I picked up learning to be a carpenter for the past year.
DISCLAIMER: Sorry kids, you're going to have school flashbacks with this one.
-Take a compass, open it to 2"
-Your spoiler has one curve, the window line has another. You want to temporarily place the spoiler so that the deepest points of the curves 2" away from each other (in this case, the middles; but I state it this way because if you use this method to transcribe something else, the point where both sides of the compass will just barely touch both parts may not be the middle).
-The line you want to trace will be the window line, so you'll keep one side of the compass on that line all of the time, the other side will trace the line on the spoiler.
-Very slowly, trace the window line from one side to the other. Voila! Cutting line.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v151/Nerraux/spoil6-q.gif
This may be done already, but I haven't seen other people mention it. If it's done slowly and carefully, it will give you the most precise line possible.
Thought 2: The blade referred to with all the teeth is a metal cutting blade. If you get one meant for cutting wood, it will have less and deeper teeth. It'll work, but you'll hack the hell out of your $50 piece of plastic. Get a metal cutting blade with as many teeth as you can. It's worth getting a brand new blade each time you do something like this. It really will make a difference in your precision and your ability to control the saw.
Finally, when you cut, cut a little to the outside of the line, then sand down to it afterwards. Again, this may go without saying, but it never hurts to have all the instruction you can when trying something new.
