View Full Version : Will they fit?

Okay so I got new sticky rubber for my 06 Kia Spec5 for the stock rims, which are the alloys, 16X6 or 6.5 I can't remember which. The stock tire size is 205/50/16. I am planning on getting some Rota AutoX rims in either 16X7 or 16X8 depending on if they will fit on the 8's or not. The stock offset is +42. I have plenty of clearance on the fender side, especially in the back. I am running -2 degrees of camber all the way around thanks to the Eibach springs.
The Rota's options are as follows...
http://www.rotawheels.com/images/products/autox_6.jpghttp://www.rotawheels.com/images/products/autox_5.jpg
AutoX
16X7 67.1 hub with a 40mm offset
16X7 70.2 hub with a 40mm offset
http://www.rotawheels.com/images/products/slipstream_2.jpg
Slipstreams
16X7 67.1 hub with 35/40/45mm offset
16X8 67.1 hub with 40/45/48mm offset
I know I don't want to get the hub rings so I'm going with the 67.1 hubs. Since the stock offset is 42 and the rims are 2mm less will they work. I have found them on the net with a 45 offset and in an 8 inch rim. The numbers above are from the Rota site. I'm not set on these rims if I can get an 8 inch rim with enough offset to clear everything on the inside and still not rub the fender. I plan on rolling them eventually when I switch to coilovers and slam my car once I get to a state that has better roads than Louisiana. I'm wondering if the 205's will fit on the 8's and not be too stretched to be safely drivable. I was running some Motegi DS6's in 17X7.5 with 215/40's in a 45mm offset with no problem. I'm pretty sure that the 16X7's with a 40mm offset will work but I was just wondering what all of you who have more experience with swapping shoes have to say. Thanks.

those lugs are too small you need 4x114.3 i think

He probably just grabbed pictures to accurately show the rims he wanted, regardless of the bolt pattern. I'm sure that he knows what he needs.
I vote for the second rim style.

I have +40mm wheels and 205 didn't rub, 215 did. A little fender-rolling and bolt-grinding and a -1 alignment later, the 215's don't rub. By my math, that' means.... you have a different car. Nevermind.

Yeah I just grabbed the pics that they had on the Rota site for the colors of rims I wanted. They have the AutoX in White with the red lip too which is sick but I don't know how it would look on my black car. I'm really just wondering if I should just get a whole new set of rims and tires and use the stockers with the new tires for spares. I think my woman would be a little upset but whatever.
I still don't know if the 205's will fit on a 8 inch rim and what offset to get if I use an 8 inch. Who has 8 inch rims and what offset are you using? In case you didn't know, most of you do, the Spectra5 and the XD are pretty much the same car under the skin.

7's should be plenty wide enough, esp with a 205 tire. you could make it fit on an 8" rim, but it would compromise the sidewall stiffness, the performance of the tire and the life of the tire. I vote for the 2nd, even though that color isn't my thing (bronze or even black with a red stripe, not my style but better would work better imho), I DESPISE 4 spoke rims.

I was thinking about the sidewall too. I think it's going to be 7's with a 45 offset in bronze or gold like the ones in the pic. I can always just roll the fenders. I have plenty of room as it is though so I'm not sure if it will even need to be done. Thanks for the help.

205's will fit on an 8" rim, but they will be stretched, which is just goofy.
205's on a 7" rim are stretched a touch, but not too bad.

Are there too many Honda's with them already or something? I finally decided on my rims. They are the JMAG's that Rota makes in 16x7 with 40 back spacing, fully polished and red lugs.

225's on a 16x7 and a +40 offset. Minimal rubbage with 4 people and aggressive driving.
My vote is for the Slipstreams. .. I'm looking at a set for the Swift.

I never really asked if people liked them. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. They are going on my car so I don't really care since I drive it around. They are almost like the stockers but with thicker and less spokes. Like I said, fully polished without the gold. BobMs thanks for the info which is what I started this thread for. The Slip Streams are pretty sweet. They are super light too, 13lbs for the 16's.

You're asking the wrong question... all that matters is, will it blend. :D

I think these "blend" better and I'm going to just get 17's with new tires and keep the 16's with stickies for autox that way I don't chew up the tires on my daily rollers. Tires will be Toyo T1R's in 215/45/17.

Visually modifying a Kia Spectra...
Eh, I'm not gonna say anything, and I'll vote for the second picture if you're taking opinions, those would look really kick *** on your ride.

How's that any different than modding an Elantra. S**t, if you ask me, the Spectra looks better than an Elantra... Especially the "5".
OP, if you're looking for good track rims, Edgeracing.com has 16" Enkei RPF1's with T1R's for $1300.

Which is exactly the reason why I don't visually mod mine.

I don't think there is anything wrong with visually modding pretty much any car if the right parts are chosen and it is cleanly executed. Nearly all cars can look better lowered with some rims IMO.

I've never though of rims as a visual mod. Hence the reason I never buy heavy Chinese crap. I always check wheel weights.

The new wheels in the Konig Lightweight series are looking pretty promising as well. I guess I will just have to wait till the bridge crossing comes along.

right, dont visual mod because performance mods are so effective on an elantra...

You can get some decent power out of a Beta...
If you got about $10K to spend. :D
