Xd vs xd2

Ok so i have been looking around on here for awhile, as well as messing around with my car. I have an 02 hatchback. So i guess what Im getting at is whats the real difference between the XD and the XD2. From what im seein on here the XD2 is more stubborn, harder to mod, and has the same performance as the XD. Can someone fill me in. I wanted the newer model, but it seems like the older models (XD) are better in every way (besides those o so shiney tailights i would like to have). do know that im a little drunk, but can someone answer me this? I will be waiting, interested, in what you guys have to say.

Actually, performance is slightly more with the XD2 due to the cvvt. What makes it harder in terms of modding is the boosting wiith the MAF in the XD2 vs the MAP in the XD.

Otherwise, the changes are mostly cosmetic. With opinions varying on that. I prefer the XD2 look.

i must say that i like the sedan XD better.. especially when it has a few mods done like wheels, lower, OEM spoiler. Then i has that nice clean look bot still sporty.

Xd2 i like the hatch alot.. but only with a spoiler. without it looks weird to me. i drove both xd and xe2 of my ex gf.. both auto.. but performance is very similar on both. we actually did a sprint one time. hers had half the miles mine had.. and we still went head on

The XD2 is a little more refined than the XD. What I mean is, you can notice small changes and updates to between the two. Not to mention that the XD2 gets better gas mileage.

The xd2 is atually rated at 138hp while the xd is rated 140 @ the crank.
The cvvt is not there for perfomance, but for economy.

Do you have any proof of this? Everything is mechanically the same minus the CVVT and MAF sensor, and even if that does make a difference, it wouldn't be drastic enough to notice.

The XD is actually rated at 135HP, although originally labeled 140HP, that turned out to be wrong and a class action lawsuit saw a lot of us getting $150 from Hyundai because of it.

XD's are nicer to look at, have better gauges and have less issues. XD2's are ugly, suck and are bad.

My XD2 has 170k miles and its only been in the shop once for a bad clutch at 20K miles. as for looks you deside, Side by side with the same body Kit.

I Prefer XD1 Just because of the headlight . I think they just look more sporty... They Xd2 Front grill is like way too big . Just my opinion !

hmm. Never drove a XD2, but im 100% happy with my XD. Do the XD2's have a better blue book value?

I love the beefy/sporty look of the XD, it seems that they ruined it with the xd2

I agree, the headlights and the front end design are what sold me on the XD as well. I just don't like the curves on the XD2 as much.

I loved the XD ever since my older brother bought his new (2002 in late 2001) but I also think that the small changes in looks are for the better - my wife and I LOVE our XD2.

See i dislike curvy hence why i abhore the new gen. While the XD just looks old and sad to me.

I had both, I do perfer my XD2. I just cannot put down either one, they both have good points.
