plagued89

springs are zenn lowering springs, heard a BUNCH of BS about them, they ride just as well if not better than stock ones, stock struts, tires are falkens not sure of which kind, i beleive theire195/40/17

Don't you hate that springs have to settle? When I put mine in I wanted instant results, but it took like 2 weeks before they were all settled.

why didnt u get such small tires?? and why didnt u also buy new struts?

u shuda gotten 215/40/17 tires man, more surface area, more grip.

they were free on teh wheels when i bought the wheels, and why get new struts if its not broken? why fix it if its not broke imo. and i think i nned 45s or 50s i think itll space it out more evenly also

Pete03GLS
08-31-2008, 05:29 PM
wat? because stock struts arent meant to be lowered, thats why.

45's or 50's what? tire side wall? u cant get 215/50's... only 215/40 or 215/45, 215/50 would rub like ****.

looks good tho.

yeah i dont mind just while we were doing sdome other work they dropped a whole inch from sitting and from driving it a bit it dropped more.

Dude, just shut up already. You have no idea what you're talking about.

More than half of the members on this site have installed lowering springs on stock struts with ZERO problems. I'm one of them.

50s might not rub if i roll the fender but i might jus settle for 45s.

Pete03GLS
08-31-2008, 05:37 PM
no, they will rub.

i have 215/40's, and they ****ing rubbed. lol

50, WILL RUB. but ur not as low as me, so it might not b as bad

plagued89
08-31-2008, 05:41 PM
did you roll your fenders? how low are you?

Pete03GLS
08-31-2008, 05:47 PM
i dont kno the official drop on these springs, they r tanabe, but i think theyre about.... 2 inches, maybe more. yes i rolled my fenders.

Looks better but there's no way, even after those settle, that that's a 2 inch drop. A 50 series tire is too tall and would throw your speedo way off. 215/45 is slightly oversized even.

gayyy, they were 2-3 coils different than the stock springs.

If you wanna see real drop, ya gotta get real springs. I think you might change your mind when those settle all the way, esp. if the coils start slapping together.

plagued89
08-31-2008, 06:12 PM
theyre pretty stiff right now. and i dont go like 30 over speed humps and i take it really slow over curbs and drive ways.

cbogg
08-31-2008, 06:14 PM
No, what I'm saying, is "settling" is basically the spring relaxing a little, it'll drop your car more, but it'll also bring the coils closer together. depending on how they're wound, they might bind and you'll need to wrap them.

plagued89
08-31-2008, 06:24 PM
theyre almost identical to teh stock springs, just a few coils shorter. so far there not so close.

Pete03GLS
08-31-2008, 06:27 PM
wat he means, is, when they become more settled, n ur driving, they will bump againsts them selves and make noise, thats y u might need to wrap them, so they dont make noise, like i did with my rainbow zipties and lowes tubing.

plagued89
08-31-2008, 06:29 PM
ah, i need togoto lowes and get myself a lip kit :] do i have to take the struts off and compress the springs agiain to wrap them or no?

Pete03GLS
08-31-2008, 06:30 PM
no u dont, put a jack under your car, jack it up so the springs expand, and wrap them then, altho, it would have been smarter and easier to wrap them ahead of time, before you n me both installed our springs, oh well... still works.

Ya you gotta wait a week or so for the springs to settle so as to see the most of the drop.

Tuesday i have to go fight with the school to find out why they axed my fall funds by half! Part of that goes to pay bills and modding budget during the semester.

Those aren't 195/40 tires. A 195/40 wouldn't have that much sidewall and they look too wide to only be 195s. Those are falken ze-912 tires.

yeah ill have to check em again, but they are almost too small for the wheel, theyre stretched a little bit. but i like teh stretched look. i hate hurricanes.

make sure you get a wheel alignment

plagued89

the alignment is good, actually, i was surprised its good. but they are 205/40s and thanks for the comments.

If you have to wrap them (you'll know, they'll be bangin like a mofo), you can either compress the spring and slide it on from the end (best result) or split w/e you're using to cover it and push it on (easier).

Pete03GLS

if u get tubing slightly bigger than your spring coils are, and lube it up a lil... then ull b able to slide it on without cutting it, my tubing was... same size as the coils... so no matter wat i did... it wouldnt just slide on... so i had to cut mine down 1 side, n push it on, n then zip tie it on so it wouldnt fall off.

also, make sure u get some... hard rubber. because soft stuff... will eventually deteriorate and be useless, while my thick, almost plastic tubing, will last much longer.
