Welp, in preparation for the wedding trip to NJ, I went ahead and madethe last step in the cars final change to DD status. THe nice, huge 225 'kooks came off and tire set #11 went on last night. The tires are the new touring tire from Kumho, comes with a 600 treadwear, A temp and A traction, has a 91W rating which exceeds the Elantras needs in both categories. Cost was abour $340 for the set, and as always I mounted them myself.

Tires havea relatively soft sidewall, but are stiffer than the KH16's I last used as a DD tire. 3 of the 4 roadforced out at less than 10 (3,5,7), the highest one at 13. After some of the direct hits these Konigs have taken on the crater marked trails we call roads they were all 4 perfect (according to the hunter machine).

So far I've driven 8 miles on them and the current theme right now is smooth and quiet. I'll do a formal review in a couple weeks.

I'm glad to see you got the tires road force balanced. How much do they charge over that way to do that?

Nothing. The shop ONLY road force M&B, and they typically charge $89.95 to do 4.

Totally missed that part. That's not a terribly bad price.

We are a dealership, and all of our guys have a minimum of 5 years expereince right now, so you're getting good service. But when discount is doing it for $10/tire with their 17yo tire kids it's hard to compete.

I know it. . . I do have to roll the left rear fender lip. With 4 people I get a little rubbage with the +40 and 205/55's.

Bob, I need a job. Is your dealership hiring? Relocation is no problem...

Back on Topic, you've gone through wheels/tires like I've gone through exhaust systems (I'm on my 7th version on this car).

Don't get me started on that either. . . I went through 5 mufflers before going back to stock.

Oh yeah, Bob, did you leave any bead grease at the shop? Or did you take it all home on your tires? lol

Tjat's a little trick I learned about big lipped wheels and getting them to road force out. Lube the crap out of them!

They weighed in at 28lbs on the same freight scale I measured the 225 'kooks on those. THey are a pound lighter, and about 9 lighter than the Sonata combo on the same scale.
