I am driving to drop off my rent listening to the radio I get about half way there and spy and 02-03 GT sedan Dark Blue like MCMs. No tint so I look over and see two younger individuals in the car. HMMM wonder if they want to play around a little. So I pace them for a little and then get over and pass some traffic watching them as a I go. See them change lanes and speed up two lanes over. HEHE come on get a little closer let them get even and drop it and take off a little just so they know I want to play. They get over behind me and there is some traffic. I slow down they get over and go past which I wanted them to do. I get behind them and I see the next lane over is going to open up. They see it and take it and "try" to take off I don't down shift I am in third and floor it pulled hard up into their rear bumper and was fixing to let off. THIS LITTLE BASTARD ****ING BRAKE CHECKS ME. I slam on the brakes they lock up for a second and I slide a little. Oh damn now I am aggrivated wondering if my bat is in the car. Luckily it wasn't because I think I would have taken his passenger mirror off. I am so sorry that your car is slow. If you want to run with the big dogs in elantra terms don't act like a little b**ch when you get pulled on. I hope you make it over to this board and send me a PM. Get some money from your parents so that you can lose it in a race with me. /rant

Thats why I stoped racing in the rx7. I would do just that and get break checked or they would jump into my lane when I started to pull them. The fun of 2 guys/girls just out on the road playing a game of tag on the highway just dosn't happend anymore.

i have never had that happen with attempting to race somebody...everybody around here either gets over and submits....or its on....but no brake check....i would be pissed too! i've met some real *** tib owners....i think that i'm one of a handful of hyundai owners in my town that actually take it seriously..... :rolleyes:

If you want to race go to the dragstrip, or the autocross. If you want to get brake-checked tailgate some idiot in his dads car! I probably have the most track time out of any elantra on the site but it is not like I get to race very many elantras at the track. Thus the interest in trying to get in some friendly playing. I wouldn't have done it to a honda/nissan owner but like the title said I thought Elantra owners were cool.

IT's kind of off topic but there are always hater out on the road. I was driving my friends Subaru STI by the beach this middle aged man driving Saab 93, yelling stuff like " That is loudest Toyota I ever heard!!" ive got a slip of someone driving my elantra with me driving an accent. He ran a 17.8.. to my 17.1 in the accent..... :eek: There is also a video, but its really really bad quality. Driver means alot.

yeah ive had that happen twice. one time coming back from the track me and my freind were playing around on Rt.15 and some *** in a acura rsx pulls up to the light next to us and my freinfd takes off in his lantra and is actually doing good till the *** in the acura pulls in front of him and start F@#king with my freind i was in my volvo so i said okay lets have some fun and me and my friend boxed this guy between two semis and started playing the same game and then the asshole pulls by us giving me the finger what the hell !!! Curb Weight (lbs.) 5-speed Manual Transmission : 2940
Curb Weight (lbs.) 4-speed Automatic Transmission : 2997

And the Elantra GLS

Curb Weight (lbs. MT / AT) 2635 / 2698

GT:

Curb Weight (lbs. MT / AT) 2635 / 2698

Three hundered pounds makes one hell of a difference when you're talking about something with 138 hp. (by the way, tib gears and xd gears are the same). Just think how our cars run with two extra people in them. 04 4cyl tib runs like that all the time. I am glad I bought the XD instead.

Ok, I am not going to read all the replies, but honestly, who was being the asshole?

Lets see, you wanted to play, maybe they didn't. Maybe they were getting aggrivated by you pulling your antics while in traffic and just wanted to be left alone. Then you pull up realy close on their rear bumper so they brake check you so you would back off and get the point to leave them alone.

Honestly, I get little ricers in civics pulling crap like that all the time and it is aggrivating as hell.

The RD & RD2 weigh about the same as the XD (aprox 2600lbs). There are very little diference in weight between the years.

The GKs weigh about 300 to 400 lbs more depending on model.

Meh, a lot of people around town will race anyone at the drop of the hat. My car has freaking spinner hub caps on it, and a lot of people have tryed racing me. Mainly though its old people cause they get confused by the hub caps still spinning when I stop, so they go... retarded or something, and I just see them fly away in thier falling apart cutlass. And usually its a "my car is better then yours, lets race" attitude, for that matter. Sure, I dont really care if they do it someplace safe, like the stretch of 422 between the Moraine pt. Plaza exit and the exit at the top of main street hill, but no the idiots persist in doing it in the most dangerous places.
