Ok I am new to this area so don't make fun of me. Winter is approaching and I would like to get pair of Snows for the front. I am planning on getting some steely's or what I would prefer GT rims. I was wondering if there are any other rims of other cars that would bolt up. I think the Tibs would right? Any body have two Stock GT wheels for sale?

Putting just snow tires on the front is STUPID because it creates an unstable dynamic when driving around in the snow. Either put them on all 4 corners or leave all seasons on.

Thats the problem I don't have real all seasons they are the Nankang like V-Groove tires. My mom wants to get me ll seasons for Christmas but I like the V-Groove's better. Esp because of the resistance factor. I have seen plenty of cars with just front Snows. Why is it bad?

because you have two different types of tires on the car that grip differently. If the front decides to grip but the rears won't then the rear may slide out and cause you to lose control. Keep it all the same.

Because your front tires are gonna have a lot more grip then the rears, you'll go around a corner, and the ***-end will come around. Trust me, been there, done that, a couple of times. And esp if you're running v-tread on the back, you're a goner. Those aren't all seasons, v-treads are summer only for the most part. Either get 4 snows, or stay home until April or so. It's not that much more money, and you'd be stupid to not do it. I've been running 4 snows on the 2 cars for the last 4 years, and I'll never go without again. It's so much safer and reassuring. There were days, when there was enough snow for me to still be doing the speed limit, with NO ISSUES whatsoever, not the slightest bit of slip, and there are 4wd suvs lining the ditches. I'm not saying it makes you able to go faster, but it makes you able to go safer.

I've lived in Upstate NY for what will be my 27th winter. You pick some **** up as you go along. Like not running your "max-extreme-supersport summer only" tires when it's below 50 degrees or there's a foot of snow on the ground. Just a bad idea. I don't have 2 sets of rims just to take up storage space, got em for a reason!

I actually have 3 sets of tires for the elantra... And all-out winter ones are one of them! Always have, always will!

And this year will be better for everyone because in Quebec it will be mandatory to have winter tires, or it's a hefty fine.

I sooooo wish they would do that here. But the problem is, we already have enough morons running around with their studs on in August, so I'm sure making it mandatory would just hasten the demise of our already wonderful roads.

I run Gislaved studded tires on the factory alloys in the winter and Fuzion ZRI's on another set of rims in the summer.

As others have said, don't do winter tires or all seasons on the front only. You'll be spinning out all over the place. If you cant afford much, get the steelie rims and snow tires. If you cant get snow tires cheap, get a set of all seasons and have them siped.

Never spun out in the XD, but have had the a$$ end try to come around on me when I was running all seasons. Now I have spun the bronco while in 4wd but that's cuz I was giving gas going around a corner just for fun... oops sideways in to the hay field.. haha that was fun.

I sort of did that with my 95 Wrangler, except it was into a Pathfinder. Not so fun:(

When i drove my z in the snow i didn't have any problems at all but thats cause i don't drive like people w/ SUV's and go flying above the speed limit and into inanimate objects. I suggest you go on craigslist and grab some tires, i mean you could put them on your car at the persons house if they allow it which they should but its up to you. but tiburons are 5 lug and won't fit.

I dunno about your neck of the woods but where I am a good set of studded snow tires will run you about $650.. if you have rims to put them on. If not add another $200 for steelies. You'll get about 3/4 seasons out of them depending on how much driving you do.

It's true what cornbread said.. I see more SUV's/Trucks in the ditches during winter than little kimchi burners like ours.

whenever i dont have the chance to get some snow tires i just toss on my snow chains and go where ever i wanna :D

Down here we have no need for snow tires. We don't get enough snow to worry about it and A/S tires are more than fine. In fact, I ran one winter with 215/45/17 Nitto NT450's.

But whatever you do, do NOT mix-match summer/a-s/winter tires.

we get maybe 2inches every year........

but its that 2inches in a 3day span that really gets the idiots down here :D i have a police scanner in my bedroom just for snow days :D

If you go online, and do it right, you can get a decent set of snows for <400, throw in another 60 for mounting, and I'm sure BOB-O has some steelies layin around. You don't even have "rims" yet do ya kid? Now would be a good time to start planning.

Ya I want rims but I would love to get another car. Also Whats so bad about drifting around corners. :D Whenever it gets bad I just hop on the sled and go wherever I want. My moms friends dad owns Pete's tire barn and they said that when I needed a new set to see them. I was thinking of getting Steelies or another set of GT wheels. I appreciate the offer but shipping would be a *****. Also what are the options for wheels? Size wise? Also Width. One last thing I dont want studded tires just some nice snows. What brands are good? I travel 45 min to get to school each way everyday on like back roads. (Minor Highways like. )

Bridgestone Blizzaks are pretty awesome, my goodyears were good (until I blew a belt in one) but I got 4 years of them with no issues. Nokian Hakkapellitan is apparently like the best snow tire you can buy, but they're expensive, figure 150-160 per tire.

The blizzaks are good.. I like the gislaveds better but ya know, everybody has their preference.

Your best bet for wheels are: 15x5.5 (same as steelies), or 15x6 (same as alloys)

Good cheap substitution: Lancer OZ wheels (15x6, typically ~$100)

Tires: I recommend 185/65/15. It's a very common winter tire size and is a size listed on our door panel.

You can also get away with using 14" wheels with the same bolt pattern.

I guess if your into that stuff. :D Also Are those Lancers 100 a set or a piece. I could probably wont do 100 a rim yet. Also thanks for the suggestions I really dont want studded tires I dont see the point. No pun Intended :). I think a good block pattern and Sipes will do just fine.
