Alright, im debating if i wanna get my window's tinted. Problem is, apparently PA changed thier laws, and only allow's 70% all around, and from what I hear, that is extreamly light. Funny thing though, is that I know tons of people with tint, and dont get stopped, only cause you can still see through the driver and passenger side window's. So im debating, tint the window's, or leave em alone? If i tint them, im thinking something like the tint on the Merc. SL's, where its dark, but you can still see through it, and then something very light, but still a little tinted on the driver and passenger window's.

Car is silver, and will have purple underbody neon's by this friday. Yes, purple. And yes, I really dont care (much) about PA's stupid car law's.

NO the percentage represents the amount of sun it allows. If I were you I would go with 35-50% all around. that way it's nice and even. No neon lights though.

I have 35% all around, it's not too dark but still looks good. It also won't lead to getting any tickets most likely.

35% is what I have. Don't cheap out make sure to get descent film. You don't want
it turning purple or some ugly shade later on.

Yes, any window tinting you will add will darken the glass further than 70%.

I have had tinted windows on various cars since 1984 in PA and been pulled over many times. If you only get the back window and rear-side windows tinted a "light smoke" they usually don't care.

There was a woman who lived in my apartment building (in PA) who had all four side windows of her Olds tinted a dark limo black. She got pulled over a year ago and the only thing the cop did was have her remove the tinting from the driver's and passenger's windows. She was allowed to leave it on the rear side and rear window.

So if you're reasonable, usually the cops will be, too. If you do get your winodws tinted, just make sure to roll all the windows down when you get pulled over so the cop can see inside your car (for his safety).

A bit of paperwork also comes in handy.
Lets say that you got pulled over for your tint and you were able to show the cop a copy of your receipt that clearly states that you have a 70% tint you should be able to talk yourself out of the ticket. Lets also say that a cop ticketed your car while you were away you could contest the ticket by providing a copy of your receipt as proof. Obtaining a receipt that states these facts should not be that hard.......

Here the law is 35% in the front, 20% in the back.....it is up to the cop to determine if he can or cannot see you behind your tint. If he cannot identify you behind the tint basically it can be a problem. The reason this exists is because you should be able to make eye contact with other drivers and pedestrians. I have 17% all around and it's dark. In the sun, you can barely make my profile out, at night, forget about it. It's also kinda dangerous when reversing at night, but it's not that bad if you are careful. I had 35% front, 20 back% on my old car and didn't like the way it looked so I stayed with the same color all around. 35% just isn't dark enough for me so I went 17% (20 for some reason wasn't available at this shop.) But if you are tinting it legally, keep a copy of your receipt in the car if you are stopped anyway.

I live in Pa (obviously) and I have had 20% tint on all 4 doors and the back and I've never been pulled over for that. Speeding, that's another topic, but I've had my windows done for a year and never had any probs.

If you are out driving after dark, on public roads, with the neons on you will exponentially increase your chances of getting pulled over and hassled. My opinion on under-body neon kits aside, if you don't want to get hassled, don't make yourself a target. And defineately roll down at least your drivers window all the way if you are stopped. A cop will generally only give you a hard time about tint if he can't see you when he makes the initial stop.

A 70% tint job just wouldn't be worth it, IMO... you'd barely be able to see a difference. 35% is good if the law permits. Just don't get anything really dark like 15% because it's very hard to see through it at night.

hey everyone, thanks for the opinions! I've decided I am ganna do 35% all around, and take my chances. I do know to roll down the window's if I get stopped, (father was a cop, but early 90's only, laws have changed since then, or else I wouldnt be asking) and about the neons, I do know about that, and I only plan on running them in the day a couple times, and ONLY when stopped at night. Cause like sleeper said, running them at night will just give me a reason to get pulled over. Thanks everyone!

I got 35's on passengers doors & 30 0n the rear window. As far as I know the driver and front passenger door should not be darker than the law in your state allows but the rest of the windows except the front windshield can be as dark as you want. :abovelol:

Apparently PA's new law is 70% all around. I swear this state hates all auto-enthusiests(sp?) but then, I see so many modded cars wil limo tint on EVERY window except the windshield, and the cops dont care one bit. Oh well, 35% looks really nice, so im ganna go with it!

Sorry to go off topic but this is driving me nuts...

And yes, I really dont care (much) about PA's stupid car law's.

You don't care much about the laws of punctuation, either, apparently. Not everything that ends with an s needs an apostrophe after it! Only possessive nouns. Windows tinted, not window's tinted. Stupid car laws, not stupid car law's.

Okay, enough grammar-nazi from me. Back to what you were doing.

Sorry, im only 16, youngest here on the boards. And im up in Butler, PA.

Just wondering what being 16 and living in Butler, PA has to do with spelling, punctuation and capitalization. Living just south of there, I'd love to learn why that is. Are the Butler schools that bad?

Anyway, to get partially back on topic... About the neon kits, anyone know if any color of undercar lighting is legal to be used in the US while a car is in motion? I don't see the problem if it's a white neon kit, or perhaps yellow like the lights that the truckers stick all over their trucks. I can understand red and/or blue being illegal if you consider that those are emergency vehicle colors.

I thought about getting a white kit and rigging it into the dome light so that it would kick on with the remote at night, but IMO it's probably not worth the work for me to install it.

It varies on the state. Some allow you to have any color you want, moving not moving, some only allow certain colors, and allow while moving, but almost all states WILL NOT allow strobe's, at all. I feel that after all, purple, and solid... the cop shouldnt care TO much about it. Just depends...

WAHOO! JUST GOT THE NEONS! Now, to get them professionaly installed so nothing gets broken. AS SOON AS I get them installed, THERE WILL BE PICTURES! :D :D :D :D :D
