Is there any way to set up a type of timed headlights, like for example to stay on for 30 seconds after the car has been shut off, for seeing your way inside or something to that effect? I know some cars do that, I was just wondering how to set something like that up.
My idea was to set it up with a timed relay, but then how would you get around the fact that they shut off when you open the door?
I would like to get something like this because I live out in the boonies now, and i HATE walking in the dark out in the woods. Freaks me out.

You could do this by adding a pulse timer. Southpawboston is the person to talk to about this.
I just thought: our cars headlights shut off when we kill the motor. There would have to be a diode in the mix because they could be attached to the ETACS.

Just get a turbo timer and set it for 60 seconds ;)

Why not add a motion detector flood light to the house? Car would be more fun, but then the light would come on whenever anyone pulled into the driveway. Plus it would cost you about 20 bucks at Home Depot.

you could get a $20 pulse timer relay that will let the headlights stay on for anywhere from 1 second to 4 minutes after shutting the car off. i actually did this... i have it programmed to keep the headlights on (if i leave the headlights switch on) for 3 minutes after shutting the car off. i also re-wired my power windows so that they also work for 3 minutes after shutting the car off... the way they are set up from the factory is to work for 30 seconds after key off OR until a door is opened. my pulse timer changes that to 3 minutes and overrides the interrupt by opening the door.
in fact i already have the wiring all worked out and illustrated, i'd have to find it on my computer...
EDIT:
okay, found it...here is the pdf telling you how to do it. i only ask, whoever uses it, please use it for your own purposes only and do not create your own DIY with my info. thanks.
