About 3 months ago I spend $450 CND on a Motorola V600. The phone was unlocked, brand new and best of all no contract. Only catch CASH ONLY!!! I thought great I'm getting a $650 CND phone for only $450.
Yesterday as I was about to use it, the LCD screen is black. I call my buddy, phone still made and received calls and he tells me that my screen's, the outside display and the inside ones were broken!!!!! HE says they cost around $200 CND to fix. SO I call the guy that sold it to me to see if he kept receipts so I can get warranty, when he says "I'm working right now, I can't deal with you." Basically means F**k you loser next time get a receipt.
LESSON OF THE STORY BOYS AND GIRLS ALWAYS GET A RECEIPT. OTHERWISE YOUR GREAT DEAL BECOMES A GREAT HEADACHE.

you might want to contact motorola directly instead of dealing with the dealer who sold you the device. Generally you only go back to those people within the first 30 days or whatever the return policy is at their store.
I take it most likely you do not have insurance on your phone otherwise you wouldn't be in the predicament you're in right now. If you have insurance on your phone, your wireless provider will generally patch you through the insurance company who will then take care of getting your device replaced somehow. If you do not have insurance, some carriers will handle your situation if you're still covered under warranty which is usually 1 year. Basically you pay the provider a service fee and they get you a new phone shipped out ASAP and tell you what to do with your old phone. You can also do the same thing by contacting the manufacturer directly if you're covered under warranty. Going this route will generally take longer.
I would call up your wireless carrier's customer service department and see what options you have. Just don't mention that your phone was unlocked and not from wireless provider's warehouse. Hope everything works out.

He's agreed to take a look at it and possibly fix or replace. However this could have really been a much smoother experience if the phone never broke, or had I covered my tracks. I'll keep you all updated on what happens.

I have the V400. There is a known problem on the V300/400/500/600 with the LCD screens. I haven't had a problem, but I've seen on the internet that many have. You might search for that and see what you can find.

I dont know if it would help you or not, but I would reccomend going to www.howardforums.com. They have whole forums dedicated to the v-600, so maybe someone there would know of a good way to help.

I'm never going to buy another motorola phone again. I have had the startac, v60g, t720, v220, v300 and now the v600. All the phones were good but after this experience I'm completely switching to nokia. Something plain and simple. maybe a nokia 3595 or 3120.

Manufacturer gives a 1 year warranty, those phones haven't been out a year. Should be able to call motorola. Worst case is you go by the Date Code on the back of the phone. 1 year from Manufacturing.

The manufacturer requires a receipt, or some sort of proof of purchase. I just bought a used NOKIA 3595 from ebay for $28.00 USD. Hopefully this one will work out okay. I'm just going with a simple phone. No more bluetooth, internet access, camera phone that just end up breaking. When the V600 is fixed or replaced I'm probably just going to sell it on ebay.

i think you're fine as long as you dont replace your phone with a samsung N400. I get terrible reception, half of my calls dont come through, and half of the calls that I do get are cutting out half of the time.

A lot of people have their preferences when it comes to cell phone manufacturers. When it comes to reception, often times it comes down to the different models of the phone, not necessarily manufacturer. I have always liked the way Motorola phone looks, but I've had problems with reception on the T720 and quality of the speaker on it. That will be the last motorola I will buy in awhile. I've seen and played with the V600 and it's a pretty nice phone, as far as features wise, but I haven't had much experience with the quality of the reception. I work for a wireless carrier and most of us tend to stick with the nokia phones. They may not have the most features or look the best, but it's gotta be the easiest phone to use out of all the manufacturers. They also seem to get good reception and are made of decent quality. I've dropped mine so many times but it's still going.

Right now i have a Sony Ericsson T616 through AT&T, and it's been a great phone so far... I haven't been impressed with the GSM phones I've seen from Nokia so far...

My buddy and his wife both have Motorolla phones in the "V Family" (I believe V400).
Well, both there phones have broken. His completely died and I think her LCD went out. He sent his off to Motorolla to get fixed and it took months before they decided to send him a new phone.
Moral to this story...next time buy Nokia

gsm technology just doesn't work as well in the US as it does in other parts of the world, and spike is right about us not getting the cutting-edge phones as quickly as the rest of the world.
it seems as though no matter what phone you get, it's a crap shoot. a lot of the problems stem from the GSM coverage your wireless carrier has in your area. for example, AT&T's coverage is horrible in boston, but cingular has great coverage. that's why my personal policy is not to pay a lot for a phone. i always go for the freebies that you get when you sign the wireless contract. right now the wife and i have samsung x426 phones, and personally i think they're horrible. yet it was one of the highest rated phones (in terms of customer feedback) at the time we got them. go figure.

Nextel is decent for direct connect, but a lot of my friends have been having LOTS of trouble with the 'normal' phone use of them.
Like someone else, I swear by LG phones and Verizon...

My V600 was fixed for free. but I will be selling it on ebay as a refurbished or as new condition phone since I only had it for 2 months. I now currently have the NOKIA 3120b. bought it brand new and unlocked off of ebay ...... loving it so far.
