I figure since I havent seen any posts in the performance sections, we should at least have SOME new content on the board.
and I think the seal bounce champ forefits the right to hate on any off topic discussion.
the board seems to have hit a slump, would you not agree?

Do socks count?
I mean hey, it prolongs the life of your floor mats right? That's why I do it, got tired of wearing holes through it.

I barefoot in my car all year round...

socks count as barefoot, since the foot geometry isnt changed, and foot to femer ratio remains the same as well.
im sure you guys know that I couldnt care less whether you wear flops or not. its basically a pointless post

You guys can drive barefoot?! Wow, I've tried it once or twice for a very short distance and it freaked me out. But then again I'm a bit anal about driving footwear, I don't even like wearing some of my shoes because they don't provide the perfect tactile feel of the pedals and allow for clean heel/toe downshifting.

I can't drive in flip flops because I can't keep the friggin things on my feet! My wife is Hawaiian and she love nothing better than driving either barefoot or in "slippers" She *****es about the pedal covers that I have cause they hurt her toes when she drives my XD (Which is fine, I don't want her falling in love with my car anyhow) Any post that starts a discussion and brings joy to the members here can't be pointless.....

It's illegal to drive in NJ with no shoes on...
Sucks for me :(

Socks are cool! I wear socks when driving in the winter ;)
If I wear my sandles to work I always take them off to drive, it's just more comfortable. I guess it's like being one with the car - I don't know why I said that, I am going to just post this now.

I agree, one with the car. Or something like that. One time I left the sandles on and I almost crashed. Harder to do 3 peadals on a stick w/ flippers. I like it when I can feel exactly how much pressure I am applying, better control over accelerator, presumably. When I do have to drive with shoes it's a huge difference and the feeling sucks, because there is none.

Two words for you my man.....Driving Shoes! You can get them from Jegs or Summit racing equipment. Get a set of those, you'll love em!

ooh, driving shoes...I bet they're only made for small-footed foreigners though. I have a hard enough time finding regular shoes that fit. im sure all you size 14 and up people know where im coming from
EDIT: sweet, summit carries them in my size.
when I have $100 that I dont need, im getting a set of these mofos!

I'm good at driving with flip flops on. However, I have an automatic. So yeah. But driving barefoot is hard, I'm with Steve it freaked me out, it was just weird feeling. I do have to say the hardest thing to drive in is big doggie slippers though. Those college nights when you get the 4am wawa urges don't allow you to run up and get shoes on, you just gotta go! (pa/nj/de people know what I"m talkin about, LOL). But yeah, barefoot is hard, however driving in 3 inch heels isn't as hard as it may sound. lol

This is exactly what I do when I wear flip flops.
When I had a car w/ manual trans, I would take mine off too. BTW, it's illegal to drive barefoot in WI.

Aren't you in florida? So what winter are you talking about? But I would like to see you drive barefoot :D and are we counting slides in this too. When I think of flip flops I think of tourists with the toe being seperate but some adidas sandals I have used plenty of times

I don't ever wear flip flops.

neither did I until I began practicing the "roll out of bed and go" procedure for going to classes.
I find them uncomfortable in comparison with shoes, but its so easy to do that its hard to resist.

Ok, true that we only have 2 seasons -- Summer & Spring. But sometimes it gets to be 50 degrees!! That is cold!
slvrsleeper
10-15-2004, 12:37 PM
Oh No not 50 degrees! How do you live?! JFWY! You should visit the northeast some time in February when it gets to a balmy 25 degrees for a high temp. Maybe I'll start a thread about who drives with big ol snow boots on......
tharptroy
10-15-2004, 12:56 PM
a 25 degree high? how do you guys survive? sometimes in TX, it will get down to the teens at night, but during the winter days it'll get up to around 40.

:iamwithst Not to mention, it's illegal in New York State. Not that I always follow the rules ;) ian drive in flip flops... even the big chunky kind... and big crazy ho boots. (You know the ones I'm talking about... I couldn't come up with a better term.)

I find it hard to drive with 4" heels...let alone things that don't even wanna stay on my feet....and barefoot for me is only if i have to move the car from driveway to garage or something.

Driving in heals! Grrr....that is frustrating. I have these 2" heals and it's so uncomfortable. That is why I take at least one of them off to drive :)
