I'm just wondering how other elantras do in autox
What Class, Mods, Tires, Setup, How do you place, etc

I've been running HS (novice for this season)
no mods
Stock tires (2 sets, 1 bald for autox, 1 with tread for daily driving)
Lately i've been running 47-48 in the front, 55-60 in the back, i've found it helps the problem my car has with push

I usually end up in the top 2/3 of the region by PAX, top 1/3 of novice

Next season i'm definitely buying some R-comps so that i'm not running on the sidewalls of my 195/60/15 all seasons

hey hey

I ran my Elantra for 2.5 years. It was run ih HS, but not for too long. I ran the majority of the time in STS. AS it was, my Elantra was prepped well for STS, but I wasn't very successful with it. It was a tough car to get through the course due to it's weight. It's a GT, so it's about 200 pounds heaver than the GLS. As for setup with stock tires, I think you have the right Idea with getting the rears up to help with the push. In HS, you have some other options to help you out.

You can install a Cat-back exhaust system, get some Koni or KYB shocks, and do whatever you want with the front sway bar. Also, you can run on Race tires.... so keep that in mind.

The best advice I can give is to always look where you're going, not where you're at, and sometimes you have to go slower to go faster.

Good luck.

I agree with Casey, I also run a GT. But I run lower in the rear because of massive oversteer. I ran HS with the stock Michelins and maxed the fronts to 44 and rears to 38. Any higher and the oversteer would catch me. I did intake and exhaust and I was fighting with a Focus who had r componds. Each weekend we'd swap first places. Out here in Seattle we don't have alot of HS cars though. I'm now running in STS with a tibby Sway bar and strut bar, and 17" rims. I have two different tires up front and back though. I can't afford a good set yet. So this year it'll be on the 17's next year I'll be running on the stock 15's with Azenis tires. With the front strut bar and rear sway bar installed I'm still having an oversteer problem under hard acceleration and entering corners. Its a pain to fight with. I only ran this setup once last year. I couldn't get out much. That was also in the rain, so that could have been a big factor. I placed 50th out of 100 cars. I wasn't used to the new setup. This year I'm running Yokohama tires on front with Wanli's on back till I can afford to get Yokohama's on the back. (I had some tire warranty issues, thats why I'm using two types.)

I'll be running Falkens on my stock rims on 4 corners plus a Tib strut and sway bar. Last year my car was stock except for the strut bar. I plan on playing with the tire pressures to see how well the current setup does.
