So they finally got them over here. Eww.
What exactly is different? No leather, body color molding, GLS gauges, GLS grill, disc brakes, cassette deck?

Yuck, yuck and again YUCK. This is how people get sick of cars, when hyundai got the body design for the hatchback they should have left it alone as just the GT, and the sedan as the GLS. Thats just my opinion, too many different models running around with the same body. That sounds weird.

If that was the case I would have a GLS I cannot like the hatchback Sorry

I honestly bought the GT for the rims and read disks. I love sedans, but at the time of purchase I was going to leave the car stock as a to and from vehicle and buy another VW, so I wanted rims and disks, no drums. But I have learned to like my hatch

i got the GT because of the hatch and that it looked upscale....contrary to some, I hated the rims but saw the potential the car had with just a change of wheels... at the time I was looking at the spectra gsx and the protege5, I loved the glo gauges, leather interior and feature content of the GT most of all it was bigger than either of the other cars I was looking at.... i dont know why size plays a role in my choice since im 24 and single.... and i dont think I will ever buy another car thats NOT a hatchback...
gls hatch... hmm has gotta look kinda awkward without alloys standard....

I for one am glad they did it and suprised they didn't do it sooner.
This is a smart move on hyundais part since not everyone that wants a 5dr wants or needs a GT. It is long over due IMO. If you want to stand out, then you customize.

I agree, too many variations for one car. Hell, I rarely see the gt hatch as it is, I cant see how this version will help at all.

What features does it have? If it doesn't have leather or a moon roof - what options does it have? Right now it looks like it's only difference from the gls is the HB.

Exactly what I did, too. I also looked at the Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix and Mitsu Lancers too. Nothing else in the price range had the same equipment level with the possible exception of the piece of S#!T Ford Focus which I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole after driving a brand new rental one that was horrible. The styling on the others was either too much (Matrix) or too plain (Protege5) or too much show/no go (Lancer OZ Rally).
Back on topic -- I think a GLS hatchback sucks! So much for exclusivity... :(

The GLS hatch has the same "sport tuned suspension" as the GT. Black Bumper and side moldings.
Does not have as standard equip.: The Leather, alloy wheels, lip spoiler, 6- speaker stereo, fog lights, trip comp.,cruise control.
looking at 05 brochure. Paint choices stay the same for the U.S. models.

I had a 03 gt hatch and just bought a 05 gls hatch. I was happy to get rid of the low quality leather. My gls hatch has a sunroof, 6 speaker stereo system, cruise control, two way trip meter. It's missing the rear lip, the mpg function, fog lights and alloy wheels.

Sounds like you need to get yourself a spoiler, fog lights, and alloy wheels, haha. Did we see pics of your car yet? I haven't seen any 5 door GLS's around here yet.
I wish they would have had this in 03 when I got my wifes GLS. I wanted the GT for the hatch but it being my wifes car she said no way, she will never own a car with leather.

Exactly!! I don't think I can get another car that's not a hatchback either. Hatchbacks are so underrated. The other day we had to buy a new 30" widescreen tv. My trunk and car is full of junk, and I could still fit the whole box in my trunk without having to remove the tv out of the box. I have a laugh when I see people buying tv's at Best Buy and they leave the place without the original packaging because they couldn't fit all of it into their car.

anyone with leather in a 4-door who would rather have cloth seats PM me and I'll gladly trade them straight up :)

I don't necessarily want leather, but the cloth seats in the Elantra suck too. I like the cloth seats in my Santa Fe. They're the mid range seat of the 3 options that come on the GLS model (crap elantra-like, better cloth, leather). There is no winning side in the leather vs. cloth debate, only opinoins. I think Hyundai was smart mby making a hatch available without the leather option.
