Its that time again, to start taking off all performance parts so the horrible canadian winter doesnt destroy them. Next weekend I have to remove my coils and rims, I will leave on the header as I dont care if it cracks. But the CAI needs to come out and be replaced with the OEM flex arm. I hate winter!

Don't remind me. I hate winter too. Glad my XD is completely stock, less prep for winter :D

Nope but I can suggest a good brand. Go with Toyo Geo 2+. Thats what I have and they are the best winter tires you will ever get. I paid $360 installed for two of them

Yea, just finished the winter prep last weekend. Took off the Astrel kit, changed out tires, put in oil, under coated the wheel wells and undercarriage and treated the door seals and locks. The day I went it was about 65 degrees. Some guy said "Why ya doing that so soon, it's nice still". I told him wait a couple days and he'd know why. Well todays high was 9 degrees Celcius, low tonight of 2 degrees Celcius. Yes, winter is coming.I run goodyear winter tires. Also an excellent gripping tire.

I just take my rims off and put the car cover on mine. I drive a forester all winter. AAHHHH the joy of all-wheel drive.

I live in Colorado, do I need to take off all this stuff? \/

I just took my kit off, yes, the front and back bumpers. Cf hood, grille, wing, rims, changed the oil, pedals, put in the winter mats, the CAI, and exhaust! Stupid winter.
I have winter tires I"m selling right now, but they won't really fit the Elantra's. The size change is a bit dramatic. But if you are interested anyway and don't care that your speedo will be a little off...PM me. 205/50/15 - Michelin Pilot Alpin - had one season of use, in mint condition.

Depends, if it something shiny our something like a body kit you don't want messed up than yes. If you don't care, then no.
By you mod list I would say CAI and maybe the catback...

Well I talked to a couple of tuner buddies of mine, and they said that all I need to take off was the CAI. Catback would be fine.

I would hate to do that every year, that has to be a PITA. You could always drive down here for the winter ;)

Do you HAVE to take off the CAI or is it just to keep it shiney. I plan on getting one and installing during the winter.

This is why I LOVE Florida Winters. It gets cold enough to make our cars run really good, but there's no snow, road salt etc. If I lived somewhere that had heavy winters, I would not mod my car. There's no way I'd take all my **** off every winter, then put it back on later. Srew that! LOL
The other morning it was 45 degrees here at my house and the humidity was in the 70% range. My car was lovin it!!!

I took off my exhaust because it would not fit with my stocker bumper. Otherwise, leaving your exhaust and catback stuff should be fine. I'm sure you could leave the CAI on in the winter, it's just a matter of how much snow/wetness you think you'll be sucking up. Personally, my kit was too expensive for me to leave on and someone smacks into it - that was my main reason, and that I didn't want it to be a snow plow! :) I take off the cf stuff because I fear cracking due to the cold.

Thats fine, I will take Canadian winters over Hurricane Ivan. I can remove my **** each year but at least I will still have a vehicle and a driveway to park it in. Screw Florida!!!!

My winter change is a fresh set of wiper blades, and removing my summer tires/rims. Putting the stock steelies and tires to get me through the crap part of the year. I like to laugh at people with nice rims covered in salt and slush.

So I got a start on it today and removed my CAI, I miss it already. There seems to be a lag in the RPM band even more so than before. Thank god the header is staying on, I wouldnt want to feel anymore of a difference than I already do.

Don't know why but ever since I brought my car back to stock I've been driving it like a maniac....cutting people off, just stupid maneuvers. I think it has to do with something along the lines of "without the kit on it is just another car on the road" and i'm less noticable or something........I've gotta calm my driving down or I'm going to be sorry.

I'm glad it's springtime in SoCal all year long. If I had to live where it snowed, I would just get a beater for the winter like Boostin_GT said.

If a garage where an option here, I would have gotten the beater. But since it's not, and the XD is great in snow, I'll drive it this year. I move next summer, so maybe I'll consider a warm climate, but I must admit I like my 4 seasons. Being from New England, there is just something wrong with 85 degree weather at Christmas.

I've never experienced a "white christmas" before and if I move, I probably would like to finally enjoy the 4 seasons. The weather out here is great, but I like to have change every once in awhile. It must be a ***** though having to take everything off for the winter.

No not really, just a dissapointment, I hate how my car looks stock. The snow is worth it, especially when the parking lots are empty and there is a fresh coat of snow.
