To start, remove the dash by removing the 4 screws (2 behind ash tray, and 2 near gauge cluster on the top). Once the dash is out, remove the 4 screws holding the HVAC in place. Pull it out and remove the plug from the wire harness. Once you have the HVAC out, remove the 4 screws from the back so that the front faceplate can come off.

If you want to, you can remove the other screws behind the white backing and change the LED's for the AC Defroster buttons etc...

Gently pull on the knobs and they should come right off. Once you have the knobs off, place the Reverse glow face over each of the 3 rings. After you have them secure in place with the 3m tape, place the faceplate back on, this is what helps hide the wires.

Place the 3 knobs back on the rods

Put the white backing on and screw down the face place.
Since the set most of us got from the group buy did not come with a splitter for the inverter, I had to splice the 3 wires into 1 so that it would plug into the inverter. After you have the wires spliced or you got a splitter, tap into the cig lighter light wires so the inverter gets power when you have your lights on. Once that HVAC is back in one piece, reinstall it back in the dash. Plug in the wire harness to the HVAC and the reverse glow face to the inverter, and ENJOY!!!

Looks good, nice pics.

I'll get this into the DIY section either late tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks for the support.

This DIY is now up in the DIY Section. Thanks again.

TheBlackshinobi, can you take a look at it and make sure I have everything correct (I was confused by one part of the DIY, but I think I figured it out, let me know, thanks)?

Can u not change the HVAC face LEDs from green to blue?
where did u get the glow HVAC face from ?

well, the HVAC does not have LEDs in it... it has traditional bulbs.... and it has green coating on the inside, so it would affect the color of the bulbs you use.

some of us have done a LED conversion of the HVAC... it is a PITA, but it looks SWEET when it's done....

I know this sounds like knit picking........but the ONLY thing I don't dig is the visible seam in the white backing. I wish they would have made it in a ring....rather than cutting it. I understand why they did it.....but I think with some care...it would go on easily enough without the cut seam.

Other than that......it a great looking result.

you need to find your + and - you can use the dimmer switch or even the lighter bulb wires.

Don't use the dimmer switch. If you're using a power inverter (which you will need for indiglo) the dimmer switch will give you goofy results, at least it did when I hooked my dimmer switch up to the inverter for my gauge indiglos.

My Subaru Legacy, 01 XD, 97 Passport, and the Volt meter for my XD2, are and were connected to the dimmer switch without Issues, also when I did Keyans XD gauges they were connected to the dimmer switch. No goofy results. and they all had power inverters and the light can be dimmed with the switch.

Yeah, Im still here even though my xd was totaled. I can never leave this place even if I now have a Tib. The people here are a bit more friendly and helpful than at the newtiburon forum.

Anyway, head over to staples or an office store. I used the blue report cover plastic (the thin plastic that is used to protect report papers). I used 6 layers of that to get the color you see in the pic, but it is much brighter when the headlights are off.

okay, beating a dead horse time... could you get a pic of the wires being spliced in? i think that was scott's problem... and eventually mine. i need to see a pic of where to splice and i want to see if i can splice it into the stock plug location so i can just "plug and play" it pretty much rather than running more wires.

is there a diagram of what the pins are for the hvac so i can try to wire them from the inside of the box? southpaw?

All you need to do is Splice into the Lighter Light

changing the bulb condom to blue is the easiest way... there is just a green condom on it stock

LED is the preferred way since it shines a light thats closest to the actual color.. by changing just the green condom you don't get that "blue" effect.. its actually something like aqua
