so a few interviews later, still jobless, currently looking for cars to replace the elantra with. was talking to a friend of mine who i use to work with yesterday, and hes said hed be willing to sell me his first gen rx7, for only 1200. i know this car has been babied beyond all babies by him and his dad, only problem its ever had was it needed a new clutch/slave cylinder, that was taken care of months ago. theres no real cosmetic flaws either, other then some paint chipping from the little plastic things around the windows, and a cracked tail light housing. for 1200 i think its probaly going to be my only choice of vehicle, and ive been looking around all month for **** cheap cars i wouldnt dare to drive. heres a pic of the car as well, i think the only thing his dad did to it was 3" full exhaust, bridge ported, im not sure if he has a different carb or not

the black one. interior is stock btw, no pics of interior, just has a different steering wheel.

ive known him for almost three years now, hang out with him quite a bit, riden in the car, never drove it for myself though. i know this is his second first gen, he use to have an automatic, then his dad gave him this one after he learned how to drive a stick

im sure i don't know as much about these as others, but it sounds like a deal to me.. and im sure an rx7 would be 10 tons of fun. i duno what all the specs are but some random guesses and it looks like thats below most sales and below BB. so seems sweet to me

50:50 power to weight ratio :p ive been reading a lot about rotaries lately, and a single bridgeport cant take teh stock baseline up to 180bhp easy with a simple carb upgrade. ive also read brigheporting isnt so good on the DDing side lol.

First, buy stock in oil companies. Then buy RX. At least thjat way you can get back a little of what you spend. Between gas and oil, you'll make them rich singlehandedly.

50:50 power to weight ratio

So you're saying that the 2300 pound car has 2300 horsepower? Or are you saying that the car only weighs 100 pounds?

first gen rx-7 motors (and almost all rotaries before the RX-8) are known to be almost grenade-like. buy with caution. for a DD, i'd personally stick with the XD.

i think (hope) he means 50:50 weight DISTRIBUTION. which is probably closer to 47/53

not even an elise has a 50/50 power-weight ratio. at best their 1:12 hp/lb

if you want another car that'll eat more gas, and cost more to maintain, but add pussy into the mix, i'll sell you my Z. its engine blows up about 25% less often than mazda rotaries, but gets women wet 2500% more often.

lol, well considering this rotary is over 110k miles, i think its well maintained, and unless its a 280z with a ls1, do not want :p

Kids.... cars do not get pussy. Ever. If you're that stupid/retarded/naive then waste your money on it to get chicks.

Rotaries EAT oil and gas. They also blow apex seals with age, lose compressions and like to self destruct. I don't care how well you maintain it, a lit piece of dynamite is still going to blow up.

i understand that. ive heard of apex seals just ****ting for nothing on normal driving. this thread is starting to remind me of boat.

You couldn't get these chicks while on the bus
I'd say no on the rx-7 btw those are more like project cars and they make really good ones

I still think you have the totally wrong approach with this one, but one needs to do what makes them happy, so go for it.

im still debating if itd make me happy or not, its more less the cheap cost of a rare car lol, but i might end up spending more on it in the long run (knowing me id throw a 13b single turbo in it so there goes another 1400) lol

You should get a side jod keep payments on your Elantra before you buy an old RX7. The older rotary engines are notorious for seal issues and you do not want to know how much a rebuild on one can cost.

What I mean is, even if the guy has to cut grass to make a few extra bucks to make payments, there is ALWAYS jobs out there.

Sean, the problem is that he can't get a job, let alone a side job. But, I agree, there is always something to do.

Don't you have a tattoo sleeve done with the octopus eating the koi? If so, that might be a reason that you haven't had luck getting hired. Though most people don't have problems with tattoos, it still doesn't look very professional especially something as large as yours is.

That is why I never understood getting a sleave or the dumbest thing I see is putting a tattoo on your neck! WTF?

Luckily as a computer programmer I'll be hidden, and tattoos wont matter.

yeah i do, depending on the job/postion itll change what i wear/do to the interview, ive only had three interviews so far, tire kingdom, ive seen people with big *** gauges in their ears and sleeves, (mines only half though) but usually its a polo/khaki's, i dont own a lot of "dressy" clothes, i wasnt raised at church so i dont have sunday clothes lol

Gotcha, still just a thing to think about. Thats why I had mine stop where it did, so that even with a short sleeve shirt it won't be shown.

yeah, i mean, i really dont think that's the reason im getting held from getting a job anywhere, places down here are pretty fair, as its equal opportunity state, i think its more less all the retirees here looking for work cause their retirement exploded in their faces.

Honestly, if you still have your Elantra I'd hang on to that, especially since you might be getting a part time job anyways.

Stick with the XD. It'll save you more money in teh long run.
