Ok... so I was flipping through a magazine today (ESPN magazine to be exact... no, I'm really not your typical chick) and I saw an ad for a new Suzuki. It's called a Reno and it looks very much like an XD hatch.... so I guess in reality... it looks like a Saab... but whatever, not the point.

Ok, so my first thought was, (mind you, I'm pouting) "I liked having a somewhat unique car... first the new GLS hatches, now this." Haha, but then, (this is where you're supposed to be proud of me...) "Oooh... roof spoiler, wonder if that'll fit... wonder what else we might be able to 'borrow.'"

Here are some pics and a link to the site. It comes in different trim levels. the S, starting at about $13,500, the LX, starting at about $15,400, and the EX, which seems to have the features most comparable to an XD, starting at about $17,000. Some features are different. What caught my eye is the 100,000 mile warranty is transferable between owners on the Suzukis.

im not sure where you see a resemblance btw the reno and the GT/GLS hatch....the only thing they have in common is a 2.0l engine and 5 doors... but the reno comes with 8spkrs and a mp3 player...i think its supposed to be the new version of the daewoo lanos or something...interior looks a bit downmarket than the elantra... and yes I am posting at 5am... hehe off to work....

I agree, it looks nothing like an XD. IMO it's kind of ugly, also looks more like a Mazda 3 from the back and a 4 door civic hatch.

Um... oK. And the XD has a CD/mp3 player with six speakers (you're right, they're so different.) They both have "euro inspired/sport tuned" suspension, front fogs, 15" alloys, keyless entry, power windows, locks and mirrors, leather interior, cruise, A/C, 4 wheels disc brakes... Add on top of that that I was saying that they do look very much alike.... I don't see how you think they're so different. I'm not saying that they are the same car. I'm not, quality wise, sure if the similar features are equal or just comprable. I wouldn't know until I actually saw one in person. I mean from the loos of it, I prefer our interior and CD/mp3 player. But I like the Reno's grill better.

Right, it looks like a Lanos (and like said, I think it actually is a Daewoo, like some of the other new Suzuki's).

It's eww if you ask me. The shape is similar to a small FX45.

The dashboard looks a bit Tiburon-ish.

I don't like it. The Elantra HB has more of a sport look to it than the Suzuki. That is just my opinion.

I don't like it
Y would u want to get your car design from a daewoo those cars are jacked up
They must not to get those things off the lot nobody will buy them
They should just keep doing that bike stuff and leave daewoo alone!

kincade.... easy... It was 4:30am and I forgot that the new elantra hatches came with an mp3 player...(you see my car is old school... 01.5 bought when they first appeared at the dealer...) let me point out the differences...no sail window on Reno, hatch more vertical thus the comparisons with the civic hatches of old the elantra hatch is actually 8 inches longer...the reno looks like a smaller car than it is...the elantra looks like a bigger car than it is... the elantra can pass as a sport hatch sedan....a la Mazda 6 sport hatch....
a comparison... porsche 928 vs 911... same features both 2 door hatches both made even by porsche can one or should one mistake a 928 for a 911(any year...) No because the shapes are different... 928 is an egg shape the 911 is not....
btw GM owns a share or two of suzuki... Gm owns Daewoo... thus the Daewoo leganza is now the Suzuki Verona...Forenza is the new nubira... Reno is the new Lanos.... I saw the Verona a few years back before daewoo went upside down here at an auto show and it was shown as the next gen Daewoo Leganza which to me lookes like a last gen TL...
no hard feelings....

The curvature is like an eg civic. The back is ridiculously ugly. The fender flares and the 6-spoke-ripoff-si-wheels make it hideous from the side. Looks nothing like any hyundai...looks more like a piece of **** imho.

So Chevy sells the Suzuki Forenza as the Chevy Optra and the Reno as the Optra5. That's pretty stupid, they are apparently the cheaper/smaller version of the Malibu and Malibu Maxx. That's why it makes sense to sell them as Suzuki's here.

Oh wells. It doesn't matter, it's still not very attractive.

Both the Forenza and the Reno is based on the Nubira. The two are almost exactly the same in dimension, except that the Reno has shorter overhangs front and rear. The chevy is also based on the daewoo, just badged chevy because nobody will buy a daewoo. Don't exactly know why they didn't use suzuki brand in canada.

I must say I don't like it. Then again I was never a huge fan of the 5 door Elantra either. (sorry guys)

Daewoo's didnt last too long here in Canada, just a little over a year, I feel sorry for all the Daewoo owners here in Canada, no where to take them for service or warranty repairs.

The Chevy Aveo, Pontiac Wave and Suzuki Swift are all the same cars, made by Daewoo.

In Canada we dont have the Reno and Forenza. The Chevy Dealers here have them as the Optra and Epica

The Toyota Echo is based on the same car as the Swift and Aveo, but Toyota modified it more that Chevy and Suzuki did....

Suzuki Reno (http://www.suzukiauto.com/sr_05/reno/) If you look quickly then maybe a little but not very much

The Suzuki and Chevrolet is purely DAEWOO, has nothing to do with the Toyota Echo.
