FD is the chassis code used by Hyundai to describe the Hyundai Elantra Touring (also known as the Hyundai i30cw in other markets).

In other words, it's not closely related to the HD sedan. Complicates matters for me, when cars on two different platforms are sold using the same model name...

Yeah, it's quite strange for Hyundai to bring over only one of the many cars on the FD platform and associate it with a different vehicle. I suppose they thought the Elantra name was pretty well known and seeing they have had wagon/hatch variants in the past that it was a good idea (and plus most consumers don't understand car chassis' and platforms).

^agreed...it was easier just to say elantra touring/wagon...

even though it looks nothing like it...except on the inside.
