The 48-hour, no return DVD (http://www.flexplay.com/)
I wonder if you could burn a copy before it expired, hmmm...
What's next, Flashdisc hard drives?

That's pretty stupid.
Wasn't that the basic idea of Divx? And where are they now?
This comes too late, as many people are looking towards the newer storage mediums, more specifically Blue-Ray and HD-DVD.

I'd love to get Mission Impossible on that disk..... This movie will self-destruct in 48 hours....
I read about these a while back. There is a chemical in them that reacts with air after you break the seal. Once the the seal is broken, the disk slowly starts changing untill it becomes unreadable by a player. It's a physical change so you probably wouldn't be able to get around it.... of course you could always just copy it right away....
It's a cool idea, I guess.... It seems really wastefull to me though. I'm not a tree-hugger, but we trash too many things after one use already..... just use netflix if you're too lazy to take the movie back to the rental store...
