I'd ask the dealer, "When can I expect to be compensated?"

I don't think the dealership will do anything, it's your car and they will say they are not responsible for your car. You'll have to go through insurance. But it doesn't hurt to try the dealership.

i know at the dealer i go to it says "we are not responsible for lost or stolen items" so i make sure i take my face plate for my cd player, my cd's fold my back seat up (so subs cant be seen)...havent had anything jacked yet...you better believe the dealership would have a serious *** reaming if something turned up missing out of my car

Im fairly certain that the dealership should have insurance to cover that. if my car is broken into on my property, homeowners insurance covers it.

If you can sue a dealer because your milage is 5 different than it was then when you brought it in, I'm sure you can sue because someone broke into it when it was on their lot

I think the "not resposible" clause only covers incidental losses like the can of Coke you left in the cupholder, not gross negligence like having your windows smashed out and stuff. Talk to the service dept manager and the manager/owner of the dealership. Be rational and as calm as possible and explain your situation and that you will accept nothing less than complete compensation. Then go to the TV stations!

Well, the car was broken into under their possession of it. I'm thinking that you should talk to the head guy there and discuss what happened and ask that you expect them to take care of the costs of replacement of windows and goods stolen. If he says, no, try to negotiate something. In the very least, at least your insurance will cover it. I wonder though if you tell the insurance company where it happened if they won't try and get the dealership to take the blame in the first place.
The dealership is probably covered for things of this nature. I mean, what if one of the guys tried to drive your car in to get service and mashed up your bumper....they would pay for it because it was their mistake. I wonder if this is under the same premise.

My friend has an MR2 convertible that got broken into the other night. They cut his top, busted a window, ripped the dash apart, broke his glovebox to get his faceplate to his cd player, and they stole his subs and amp.
His insurance is going to pay for everything. Hopefully you won't have to pay for anything either.
Good luck

You should be pissed! It is the responsibility of the dealer. Do not call your insurance co. they will raise your premiums. Talk to the dealer. If they don't kiss your rear end, then immediately call a lawyer. Sorry to hear what happened. Be calm, and talk in an even tone when talking to the dealer. But, be firm.

I still say **** on the floor...no really though its their responsibility to take care of you. As soon as you hand over your keys to them, your vehicle becomes their issue, no need to say it again but just talk to the dealership they should cover it.
