I wonder if the speedo is even correct at those speeds, especially since our cars were never meant to be driven that fast. In a recent report by Motor Trend, they tested the Ferrari Enzo, Porsche Carrera GT, and Ford GT to see by how much they could break the 200 mph mark and the numbers on the speedometers once they reached near 200 mph weren't as reliable as the measured speeds.
i beg to differ i brought mine up to 125!!!

The ECU limits the speed at 120mph or 196KPH
Regardless of what your speedo said thats what the wheel sensors are telling the ECU the car is doing.

I don't think so I've taken mine 220km on more than one occasion. All times on our beloved 401.
ilanpro youve done it to?

Can I get the "Beating a dead horse" shout here? We must have already 10-20 threads on this topic.
Sorry, but this topic is getting old IMHO. Now if someone can get rid of the limiter all together, that would be something.

The same topic is talked about at the other forum I visit, and over there most of board agrees that the speedometer is not accurate when your talking about speeds like that. The only true measurement would be to see a speed detector reading. But most of us don't want to take that chance with the police.

Hmmm.....I've never seen proof of 120-125 range, I've only seen PROOF of 117...until then, 117! :headshake

the the measely power that our cars make, at 120 mph.. any sports car still easily pull away...
with my last 5.0, I used to run next to most ricers and watch them top out .. then i would hit the gas and leave them in the dust even in 5th gear.

I'd say grab a hold of a radar gun, (maybe I take for granted that we have one where I work), take a passsenger and get them to aim the gun while you go fast. If the speedo isn't accurate, the reading on the radar is bound to be able to tell you.
BTW - I really don't recommend speeding to test these theories out...everyone knows what potential accidents, tickets, loss of license and additional problems can occur.

im gonna go out maybe tonight or tommarow and do this again

that is just as accurate as a radar gun!

there is no such thing as an exact top end. it will vary from car to car, from climate to climate, the mods you have, the weight you have in your car, and the size of the rims/tires.

i think were just talking stock in general......
i know theres factors that are involved with it....
im just asking about stock from the factory
cause i thought 110 was a little slow..
im lowered...intake...exauhst...alot of weight from subs...plus my overall wheel diamete doesnt match stock...so thats a problem!
