Is it possible to get 170+ hp from a n.a. xd (CVVT) ? If so, what mods would be needed? Cost?

I/H/E is a good start. Then you'll probably need a BBTB, ported IM, as well as lot's of other work.
Is it possible? Probably. Will it cost a lot? Probably. Would going turbo be more practible? Possibly. Do you want to go turbo? Doesn't look like it. If you can get 170 HP N/A then people would love you.
Noone has really done anything serious with cams and higher compression and the like. It has be done on a nonCVVT in Korea, I wouldn't be surprised to see something on the CVVT engine similar to that come out of Korea in the coming months.

SuperGLS,
I assume best bang for buck would be (in this order) Intake (+7 to 9 crank HP), then exhaust, then header. Any guess on hp bump from each component? BTW, what is "BBTB" and what is "IM" ?

Big Bore Throttle Body good for minimal HP gains but it does make throttle response better. Intake Manifold, port matching the intake to the engine block allows better flow of air/fuel into the combustion chamber and frees up the high end horsepower. The engine "breathes" better and is better able to take advantage of the other mods you might do like exhaust system stuff

There are no BBTB for the VVT yet they are different than the 01-03

I don't think the CVVT throttle body should be any different from ares, but the only thing i see is that the air fuel sencer is on the intake tube and not on the throttle body, you may be right on that unless that can be changed to the way are 01 - 03 are.

thats cheating!! :D
I know Rshack did do cams but he never provided details or dyno graphs so that doesn't count in my book. As far as the TB there is a big difference on the 04+ compared to the 01-03. This was already dicussed, a swap would not work.
