I just ordered this from summit racing.. I know its a little pricey considering that other "less reputable" vendors sell the same unit for much less...

But it is time to replace my worn out 12v impact wrench from walmart...

Price was $50 + shipping.

here is a pic of the new one :

this tool will do the job of any regular air powered impact wrench..

the only diff is that its not as fast as the regular air tools... :) it will still get the job done.

I have a 12 volt version in my car to rattle the lug nuts off as well. I paid about 50 bucks for it.

well, the one i pictured above is a 12v unit that plugs into the lighter hole :)

So you can work on the engine or other parts just about anywhere :)

no air compressor to lug around or plug in :)

I have a Harbor Freight store right up the street from my house (no shipping). :D Hope they still have one on payday.

Evan, you should head up there, corner of 161 & cleveland, if yoiu didn't know where it was.

does anybody have a site??? that i can look at these more?

ford it still has all the torque of an air tool? what are the specs on it?

FordFasteRR

its rated at 250 ft/lb torque. about 20 impacts per minute, but you can usually take a lug nut off in about 3-5 impacts.

its most likely closer to 100 ft/lb in reality. but that is enough to do just about any work on the XD engine/chassis/suspension.

I have done all my springs and TIB brake upgrade using that tool.. I also used it to install the underdrive crank pulley ( and then removed it again ) lol

if you want to see more of them, go to www.shopping.com and type 12v impact wrench

also you can try froogle.com >> same search string as before.

:) I found mine using shopping.com and it linked me to summitracing.com and since i've ordered from them in the past, they were always 100% responsive and reputable + they always ship on time... I could not risk waiting around for a tool that I'll need for when I install the blower next week :)

So I paid premium but I got exactly what I wanted in 2 days :)

Ford, the one you got seems to be a very good model.

True, but I dont have to lug a 500 lb air compressor in my trunk ! LOL

:)

also..

what might you need 650 ft/lb torque for ? to crank the motor when your battery dies ? LOL

This tool is for the typical job that anybody needs an impact wrench for... think about how much money I saved by using that tool for over a year now. It payed for itself after the 2nd time I removed my wheel lugs ! LOL :)

I have the same one, Ford. Love that damn thing. Just be careful not to have the F/R switch the wrong way, because your thumb has a tendency to hit it from time to time. I've snapped a few bolts that way.

Harbor freight isn't known for great quality tools. If you arn't expecting to use it everyday, or have it last a long time, it is a good place to get tools cheap. At my work we buy air rachets, die grinders, and air saws from them because we can get them for under $20 each, and they last about a year, then we go and buy another chepy one from them to replace it.

Ford, you are making me feel soooo old. I was here when you bought your first electric impact, now look at you. All grown up and already on your second one. Where has all the time gone. :(

well, i gave my old impact wrench a nasty beating and I let other people borrow it to do work on their cars... so the magnets in the dc motor started to shatter and get stuck inside of the rotating motor shaft... so every once in a while, it wont spin.. I need that thing for when I do other work on my car so I decided to buy a new one :)

OHH YEAH !
