Anyone remove chrome on hood

Has anyone removed that chrome strip on the hood (above the grill) on their GLS and replaced it with the GT black strip (and then a new grill)?

Also are the grills/front bumper the same on the 04 4-door GLS and 5-door GT (except for the bumper strips)? Just asking cause the 01-03s had such big front fascia differences.

You should be able to switch it pretty easily. I've never examined the 04 grill up close, but that's the first thing I thought of when I saw the grills, that they should be swappable. Good luck.

Ditto....I painted mine too...It looks great to have body color moldings and grille

painted grill is nice but the only downfall is it gets pretty beat up by rocks, I have to repaint mine

Yeah true mine has held up well though I have only painted it once and its been about 2 yrs and it still looks good

forget paint. forget swapping. just go and buy a new grill. found one at motorimpact.com. it's an m&s bodykit. nice!

04 has a different design...part of the "grill" is part of the hood now! :tongue:

And they cant part out any of the 04 Carart body kits! I asked Rob yesterday!

Probably gonna save up and get that or the Talon kit if CONCEPTO doesn't make an 04 kit by next year.

can anyone tell me how to remove the chrome on the grill? besides painting it? i am trying to make my 01 gt grill all black. thanks

from what i've seen all chrome on grilles is actually chromed plastic...but i could be wrong, as far as swapping the GLS chrome for the GT black, did and painted it to match my grille...
