i have the evo fusion headers. i was wondering if it will fit without installing the pipe that came with it. in other words i want to install the header to the stock pipe. will that make it any quieter and add a little more performance? i already have the evo fusion cat back exhaust.

Yeah you can do that, though you may have to take it to a muffler shop and get it adjusted if they do not line up enough.

I take it you are not selling the headers anymore?

Actually I don't think the original flex-pipe assembly is long enough to work with the Evo header. And to answer the other part of the question: yes leaving the factory resonator on the car will help with the exhaust noise. No it will now help with performance because its heavier than the "racing downpipe" that comes with the header.

You are correct but your reasoning is off. Weight is not the issue, size of the piping and removal of restrictions (ie the cat and resonator) would be why the "race pipe" would yeild more power.

Shows you how long its been since I looked under my car! I forgot the downpipe has the Catalytic converter in it. Good point though, the only trouble with the Evo header and downpipe is that the wall thickness is a little on the thin side, without the factory resonator or an aftermarket replacement you'll get the dreaded "bee-buzz" Just ask Ilan or do a search on headers in the archive and you'll see what I mean.

I never said you wouldn't get the buzz, but all you need to do to fix that is add an aftermarket higher flowing resonator. If you left the stock resonator in there it would create a bottle neck in the exhaust system because of the smaller diameter tubing the stock system uses.

i had both (header and downpipe) installed on my car before but it was too loud! i could feel the performance though just it sounded like a lawnmower. so i can leave the stock on, i would just have a problem with the length of the stock downpipe. 2GTS are you talking about the header to the downpipe or the exhaust system bottle necking? i have the evo fusion cat back exhaust system already on my car. it comes with the pipe to hook to the muffler.
