Yeah, Krafcik said there would be "3-4 variants" so it makes sense. It's too bad it wasn't available in time for a 2011 model. My guess is that it will be an early 2012 maybe during the summer or early fall.

Not sure, though with the Veloster coming out it doesn't make sense to me for them to offer a two door Elantra.

It would be nice if the sheetmetal from the rear door forward had the same style as the sedan.
EDIT: And the 2.4 liter engine as an option.

I agree with your styling hopes.
Engine wise, doesn't look like that'll happen gauging by the engine news they just released.

That engine is in the new 2011 Kia Optima SX. 275 hp at the crank.
They need to have a FWD car to compete with the Mazdaspeed 3 and the VW Jetta turbo. The Gen Coupe may not be as comparable in that regard.
