is there any casting difference between the 01-03 beta2 head and the 04 vvt head?

yes.


the difference is on the drivers side of the head on the hyudraulic cam adjuster area near the CVVT solenoid.

also, the late model 03 and all 04 + have a different valve cover that matches this new style head. :)
