I am looking for a moderate gain in performance, I have a CAI, soon to add a short through shifter, and new exhaust. My quetion is how far should I go and please get specific with model numbers. I was thinking a magnaflow cataylitic converter, all stainless steel pipe( not sure what size is stock and what size would be best for me), and a borla muffler. Also do I need to replace all the way to the header to change the pipe diameter?
Off the subject can anyone tell me about the spec 3 clutch?

i would go w/ a catback from teamsr.org...check ebay caus they usually have em on there for a lot cheaper than their site (sometimes 100$ cheaper) you wont have to change your headers, but it will give you a couple extra hp...the exhaust will bolt up to your stock exhaust, and should only take you about 2 hours MAX to get it in...i had no clue as to how to do it, but jacked it up, looked, its only 4 bolts and you have to take the rubber mounts off (wd40, slide right off) bolt the new one back up...as for the spec, i dont know...unless you plan on doing some serious mods, a stage 3 might be too much, and would not make it easy to drive on the street...a stage 1 would probably be better...or, if you wanna spend a lil bit more, the VHR clutch (contact rick at REAL engineering) is around 600$ and it only increases the pedal pressure like 30%, so it feels close to stock

I really want to go with a borla exhaust system but they do not offer any direct kits for hyundai, so I am wondering if there is a car with a similar exhaust that could be made to fit my application? Also I owned a crx with some aftermarket work and the clutch was way harder and I loved it, how could I get that feel again?
I wouldn't bother getting a Borla kit for another car and trying to make it fit. I'd reccommed the Evo Fusion cat back or just getting a custom setup made with a magnaflow muffler. For pipe size 2-2.5 is best for n/a,stay on the smaller size if you won't be doing much more performance modding, go to 2.5 if you are going to get headers and other power goodies.

If I wanted an evo fusion system then I would go with that. BUT, I want to borla exhaust because I like their products. I could get a custom borla exhaust but pay a lot more money for it but if there was a similiar exhaust system already made and all i needed were a few minor adjustments then I could save some money. I was planning on on getting 2 1/4 if the pipes are mandrel bent or 2.5 if crush bent. And yes I do plan on changing headers and such......I know that I could save money on products with teamsr or evo fusion but they aren't the products that I want. Not to sound like a *****, but I've done "SEARCH" and looked at what everyone had to say and I know what I want and like. I mean, don't get me wrong, I do appreciate everyones opinion otherwise I would not be asking.
Ok I saw a pic of a split exhaust on an E GLS(ronniesan), so I am under the impression that the 03 tib borla cat back system should fit.

If you've already decided on Borla, why don't you call them up and ask them for help!
Sorry to sound like a jerk, but every suggestion people have made for exhausts other than Borla, you've flamed.

borla is expensive and nobody has a dyno to show if its really any better than a custom crush bent system on an na beta.
so you'll end up paying all that extra $$ for a system that you have no valid proof if its any better or not.

limited choices, custom or evofusion. like ford said, you'd be putting out extra $$ for an exhaust which wouldnt have been tested, and therefore just buying the name.

I have had an acura, crx and trans am in the past and I have come to like flomaster and borla, but to buy a universal package from borla I would have enough to make 2 exhausts for our car. I found a tiburon exhaust from them, but it is a split exhaust. My mind is made up I just wanted help incase there was another car with a exhaust that was identical or very similar to the egt.
Thank You for all the help though.

The cars you've mentioned are all extremely popular modding cars. Not the case with the Elantra.
I love Borla exhaust too. I helped my friend put it on his 01 Monte SS and it sounds awesome.
I'm looking at the borla exhaust diagram for the V6 Tiburon, and it doesn't look like it would be too hard to make it fit the elantra. You might have to shorten it here and add some pipe there, but the general shape looks the same as the elantra. And then all you have to do is get rid of the Y pipe and weld a straight pipe there.
I still think there are lots of other ways to make a nice exhaust. I myself hate the way straight-pipe sounds on 4-cyl cars, so I went with the Dynomax 3 chamber muffler and custom pipes w/ a glasspack resonator and it sounds just aggressive enough. All for $300 and that's still considered expensive.
Hey, if you want the Borla that bad, then go for it. As I said before, they make some quality products. Just make sure you know what you're doing.

as far as the clutch goes, you should be fine with a stage 3 as long as its not a 6 puck. and even then its not really that bad once you're used to it.
if you want to keep some drivability, you might want to fool with a hybrid setup. stock pressure plate and high friction disk.

Thank you elkaine and tharptroy for your replies, I think I will moddify the tib borla exhaust and as for the clutch I still haven't decided what to do. I remembered a friend of mine rebuilds old muscle car engines and I will be callling him to see how feasible it will be to swap the tib v6 engine to my car.

here is what I found on exhaust info on new tib, the tib v6 catback systems fit the 4cyl with minor adjustments because of flange size, so for me when I install the borla exhaust I will nix the y pipe and run one tail pipe at 2.25" the whole way no split. This is news to me but if it has been said please do not get mad for the repost and hopefully this gives someone else another option. Any advice on running a single pipe? I think the fake dual exhaust will actually hinder performance and the 2.25" single would be ideal.
