Just finished installing a Gst fuel pump in my 99 elantra
dont know if anyone rememmbers my car problems a few weeks ago
well after the install i would assume i gained about 5whp, my car runs better, and is also quieter.
Part cost me $25 and took 1hr and a half

hmm...
you notice that the car runs smoother after this upgrade ? perhaps you are running richer and therefore the motor is smoothing out but not making more power...
on the 99 elantra, you could install an adjustable FPR and then tune out the higher fuel pressure which in turn will bring your peek power back...
I gained 2.5 whp on a dyno by just going from 11:1 to 12:1 air fuel ratio...
by installing a higher flowing fuel pump, you WILL usually increase fuel pressure which in turn will lower air/fuel ratios and make the car lose some power NA wise...
so check that out and let us know what you do.... AND.... of course dont forget this...

wow :) thanks for the linky ! hehe
update:
From looking at those pics... I came up with an idea...
For those XD people who want to convert to return fuel system... you can just swap the pump housing and it already comes with a return line welded on it...
the only other issue might be the fuel level indicator but if the harness is the same then we might be able to just swap it...
worst case is that you can modify the stock fuel level onto the j2 fuel pump cover...
